Just did the horn mod yesterday. As the person above mentioned with the wiring slack, I loosen the tape and the horn fits fine.

If anyone has done an alarm horn mod, I would be very interested in hearing (and seeing) about it.

Yes I did my horn mod the weekend I bought my Fit, it's well worth it. People hear my horn and have this WTF look when they see it's my Fit with the loud horn. I am also tempted to find something even LOUDER. Trust me people in Orlando drive like freaking idiots, well that is the people who aren't from here.

And if anyone has changed out the alarm horn please do a write up or heck I may do one if I can find a swap out for it.

You should see their reactions with an air horn. An SUV driver started to change lanes on us without signaling; my wife hit the horn, and the SUV driver looked like she had just sat on a wasp, immediately moving back into her own lane.

Just did the horn mod/replacement.
10 minute job...taking my time.

One thing I noticed though that I don't recall anyone mentioning - there's appears to be a second horn, identical to the one in front, located right behind the driver's headlight. After I disconnected the front horn, I tried to blow the horn and nothing happened.
Is this other horn-looking thing not really a horn? If not, what is it?

I see no need (or benefit) to swapping out the alarm horn.

Re louder, Stebel Nautilus/Wolo Big Boy compact dual air horn generates a lot of sound. I know someone who mounted two of them on a motorcycle! However, even for just one, you must run a fused circuit from the positive terminal of the battery to a relay, as the current draw is too much for the 10 amp fuse on the horn circuit. Did you know that the transmission interlock on a Fit A/T is on the same circuit as the horn? DAMHIK.

Just installed the Strebel Nautilus and here's my learning curve: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ruise-set.html

It is one really nice distinctive horn. Highly recommended.

You do need to run a 20A line off the battery - as you'll see I tried not and found out why on my MT.

It's the alarm horn. Click the lock button on the remote twice, and it should beep. For an alarm, it's loud enough, and you probably want a low power horn to reduce battery drain if the alarm goes off.

That was an entertaining thread.

My experience was to test the new airhorn in the garage (it tooted), then blow it a couple of times while driving. A mile from home, I parked the car, and when I got back in, I couldn't get the A/T out of Park. The horn didn't work either. I had left my Leatherman tool at home, and had nothing to pry the emergency access tab off so that I could release the transmission. It was a rainy day. I walked back home, picked up some tools, rode back on a motorcycle, then drove the car back, so that I could attack the miserable Fit fuse box in a garage. Drive to Radio Shack to pick up some fuses -- why is Honda too cheap to provide some spares, or put the fuse box in an accessible location, like the engine bay? The RS fuses weren't quite right, so the next day I drove to the nearest Honda dealer to buy some genuine Honda fuses, several of which are now taped to the inside of the access panel for the fuse box.

We learn best by breaking things -- hopefully not expensive things.

Hey Sedlen - I learned never to let pride get in the way of my ignorance..... glad you enjoyed it.

Forgot to mention that the Nautilus has a trick attachment that allows you to connect a chunk of 1/4" tubing to it as an air supply to the compressor. You then route that up into the engine bay out of rain/water spray. Keeps the guts from corroding out. I brought mine up and around to the top inside f the radiator. A nice feature. Also when mounted the horn centers behind the front emblem - a very dry spot for being "on the nose".

I'm not sure I understand. Can you provide a photo?

I made a fairly long horn support bracket, and the horn assembly is almost behind the H emblem, but more protection is better.

I think you got it.

Mine is on a short [3"] bracket off the original horn mount bolt. That places it just behind the "H" emblem - same as yours. That's a very dry place. The way mine is in there the horn openings are down and facing forward. Did you install the tubing? A special connector came with my horn that allows the tubing connection. That's what I brought up into the engine bay. If you don't have that connector don't know what you might do. Is yours a real Stebe or a look-a-like??

Time for FIFA and to see Germany kick ass. USA tied UK yesterday - whooo!!

Hey everybody:

I have to just say "Thank you!" to everyone who posted in this thread. This is by far one of the easiest and cheapest mods I have ever done to any car. This isn't just a cosmetics issues, its a safety issue. This horn mod is a must-have in today's world.

That said, my '08 Accord horn was $18.03 from my local stealership. I *HIGHLY* recommend that anyone doing this mod buys the two black clips that were mentioned as part #91518-SM4-003. These cost just a dollar or so...they hold the plastic vanity cover around the hood latch. The factory clips aren't really meant to be re-used...that said if you want to be cheap, be EXCEEDINGLY cautious removing the stock clips.

Anyways, this is easy to do, and let me tell you, with the Accord horn installed, you will be safer on the road. The thing is *LOUD*

Thank you everyone!

Parts used: Honda:
38100-STK-A02 (Accord Horn, Low)
91518-SM4-003 (black clip x1) (GET TWO)

Time spent: 15 minutes
Money spent: $20.23

BK

+1 on everything Grayfox said. I did my new 2010 Sport AT today. Accord low horn cost $16.23 at local dealer including all taxes. About 15 minutes to install. Had to do a little modification to make the horn point down and yet not press into the A/C condenser. No problem, big improvement!

Rep'd for pics and advice. Just did the grille protection and horn. Easy. 40 min for both.

Ditto on wanting to do the alarm horn.
