6500 miles with new fit, some thoughts

Hello, I've enjoyed reading all of the great post on this forum and so I thought I would share my thoughts on this great little car. My current cars are a BMW e30 325i and a 1960 Morris Mini. I have never considered owning a Honda until the GE8 came out. I have a tendency (however narrow minded it may be) to think of Hondas (S2000 not included) as either reliable and boring or some poor taste, tarted up Civic DX rice mobile with neon/monster tach/coffee can muffler, all with little redeeming value. Well the first time I saw a GE8 it caught my eye. I had been looking for a reliable small car for my wife and the Fit fit the bill. I like the low curb weight (my first car a 1975 rabbit with transplanted 16v gti engine big/brake kit/spaxs coilovers, weight 1850lbs). Most modern cars are bloated and corrispondingly drive poorly. 2600lbs is pretty good. The car's steering is respectable. We bought a TW sport AT. I have never had a auto before but flicking though the gears with the paddle shifters is enough to keep me from questioning whether I've gone soft. I also love the versatility. Who needs a CRV when you have a fit? My only gripe is the choice of fabric for the seats. It feels cheap and is difficult to clean. It's worse than wearing a black wool sweater in a house full of white haired cats. I keep a lint roller in the glovebox. I would rather have something courser, more durable. I currently live in Michigan so I invested in weathertech floor mats, they are a must to contained the salt and grime. I had a non repairable tire puncture and thought it a good opportunity to replace the goofy sized OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL470. I opted for some Hankook Ventus HRII H405 in 205/50-16. It is a fairly inexpensive tire but I am impressed with the increased grip. I don't expect them to last forever, just give a year or two of decent grip. They help loose the skinny enemic look. I will eventually get some 17x7.5 et45 with 215/40-17. Both my wife and I are both in dental school so money is a bit short. All for the better, the roads in Michigan are crap, I'll also hold off on springs until we move next year (hopefully to Texas). We recently took a week long road trip from Ann Arbor MI to Texas. The fit was perfect, we got around 36 MPG, was quit and comfortable and ran flawlessly throughout the 3000 mile trek. Anyways I love the Fit, sorry to write so much, here are some pics of the car and the new tires.

I ordered them online, I could not live without them. I have generic all weather mats in the back. They are a bit hokey, I would love a one piece molded mat from weather tech.

Use a damp microfiber towel on your upholstery. I've found nothing that works better at "sucking" up everything that sticks to the seats. Works great for everything else on the interior - you can just use water or add a bit of Woolite.

Yeah, it should just go 100%. Glop on the toebottom of your shoe will just ooze down the backside.
