The automatic sure sucked the fun out of the car. It's night-and-day difference.

I wonder how many people would change their opinions (even if only a little bit) about the Fit if they test drove an MT after already forming some sort of opinion about the AT.

I test drove the Fit three times, all in AT form. But I bought the MT without even test driving it in MT form.

The major thing that bothered me in AT, was when I was coming to a stop before a turn. If the light turned green before I came to a full stop and I proceeded through, the car would lurch just as I would complete the turn. Which I think has something to do with the transmission trying to shift at that moment.

It did the same thing in my test drives of the Insight II (before I decided to get a Fit instead)... in fact, after those test drives... I started noticing it in the Pathfinder I was driving at the time (though not as noticeable).

Installed a bigger battery

I got a tired of dealing with the 335 cca battery in my 2010 Fit. When it's below zero the factory battery just didn't seem to hold a charge or have enough capacity. So, I ended up buying a group 121R battery and modifying the battery tray to make it work. The tray just has 4 bolts holding it on. The two bolts on top need be removed; the two on the bottom face the engine and just need to loosened to lift the tray out. The 121R is both an inch wider and longer, so I just cut the front side of the battery bracket off and welded on a new bottom/side extension made from a couple 6" pieces of strap steel with holes in it. I needed to extend the top bracket hold down as well. Now I have a much more powerful battery (500 cca) for the same $85 the factory battery cost.

The M/T and A/T are definitely worlds apart regardless of vehicle type just as much as the drivers who prefer one over the other. Hope you enjoy your new buy.

Ok, so just finished about a 60 mile trip back to the house. (quick warning, no pics. It started to rain about 5 minutes from the house ) General impressions... Holy shit . It feels like a totally different car. It sticks to the road, has almost no roll. Shifting, accelerating, and braking all feel extremely smooth and don't cause the car to rock, pick up, or dive at all. Driving over the Basin it was windy but didn't bother the car much unless it was about a 25-30 mph gust and then it would push me a bit, but under that and I could let go of the wheel and she'd stay true.

Still need to get the alignment done as there is a little play in the steering when turning but that was a given when messing with ride height of pretty much any vehicle. Ride is set about 3/4 of the way to full hard which is pretty stiff and on bad roads you can feel it, but I don't really mind and enjoy it a lot.

Now I need to grab a Progress RSB and I should be set for a good while.

Haha. I know the feeling, and I'm trying awful hard to resist the mod bug. It's in the blood!

Thanks man :Wavey: Haven't had a chance to get it out and drive it yet. But There are a couple of tweaks I need to do to it before I'm completely satisfied. Should be done by this weekend though.
