Went back to work today (1/2 Day after 9 days off). Tested out the Nuvi 265w that Santa Brought.

I didn't find anything plugged in or left on... so unless she found one of the doors open or something and didn't mention it, something is seriously f'd up.

RIDICULOUS!!!

Four jump starts in a little over a months time.
If christmas hadn't just passed, I'd say you'd have a Christmas present all picked out... a Jumper Pack. Birthday coming up?

BTW, Do you guys use the bean bag base to mount the Nuvi? I found that the FIT's slopping windshield angle is too far for the windshield mount as discussed in another thread

I told her that the alternative to having the car checked out, to get a battery tender.

I don't recall the car having needed to be jumped in previous winters. While it's true it has found more downtime this winter, there have been times the car has sat longer, so I think something is failing... very badly. My guess is the alternator.

Hahaha, as I was punching in this post on my iPod, my sister called to the restaurant to talk to her husband (he's a chef, I deliver)... the van died AGAIN!

***sigh***

Edit: apparently I forgot to send my post before I left over half an hour ago.

Anyway, I mounted my nuvi in one of the dash pods, it covers up pretty much everything in there except the bottom of the gas gauge... If I see a red glow, my needle is close (that or my parking brake is on).

so far so good. wait to update the maps until the beginning of Feb. unless you have lifetime map updates. those without lifetime maps get 1 free update within 60 days of 1st use. the next maps are potentially being released on the 20th of January. (2009 was the 22nd of Jan, 2010 was the 21st of Jan, so 2011 is likely the 20th of Jan)

Mine is mounted in the small corner window so it's right there. not sure if i'll keep it there but it's good for now.

Yup, and I greatly prefer it over the windshield mount.

Here's where it goes:

In my case it stays there most of the time.
Cable drapes over steering wheel cover, out of the way.
Easy to pop off and stow in glove box.

I ran it through a touchless car wash just to get the salt of of it and get the undercarriage cleaned. I also put a little insane shine on the tires. Looks pretty good but its never like a true wash.

Well not today, but over the holidays I installed the SRI.

WOW! Best mod yet for sure. Love hearing the crisp engine note especially noticeable at 5300rpm iVTEC change. Around 5800rpm I can hear the filter whistling too. Used a slightly shorter and narrower K&N RX-4010 and it fits brilliantly, at least a 1/2" clearance to the brake reservoir.

I also hear a slight "puff" right as I release the clutch and hit the gas under 'normal' upshifting - is this the crank case breather?

MPG appears to have gone UP - yes increased. I have a manual so not sure if its that or engine break in (installed @ 4000mi now at 4650mi) but it went up dramatically right when I installed the SRI so I think its at least mostly that. Of course, if I do some "spirited" driving the bottom drops out of the MPG quickly but for standard highway cruises I gained 2-6 mpg over stock.

Also got 10 qts Mobil1 oil and two Mobil1 filters for my next 2 oil changes. Hard to find 5w-20 around here for some reason so I got extra. On sale for $3.99/qt!

Been busy dynamating the rear hatch and right rear door. 3 more doors to go! Makes a huge difference in road noise, now it sounds like a Mercedes when the door is slammed shut

Had right rear window replaced this morning.

Window was shot out by drunken kids with pellet guns on Sunday night.

Police caught them though, supposedly thanks to the Fire Departments infrared cameras, spotted them hiding in the woods nearby.

Nearly a dozen incidents that same night according to local police.

Wish I could have spent a few minutes with them in private on Sunday....
