Why do people really try to race fits???
On modern FI cars during overrun (i.e. closed throttle while in gear and coasting), most (including the Fit) shut the injectors off until you drop to near idle speeds. This was true even on the earliest electronic FI systems (Bosch D-Jetronic - see my web page on this system). Some of the early systems eliminated overrun shut-off because they experienced problems on the EPA test with higher emissions after restarting injection, caused by cooling of the combustion chamber. With better design and the implementation of 3-way cat converters, the emission issues were eliminated and most cars went back to full overrun shut-off.

I've got a manual transmisson. I was worried about the computer running partial throttle on declines to keep the ride smooth, I guess I could always cancel cruise control on long hills if I see that happening.
Cruise control maintains a constant speed, it trades acceleration on decents for increased gas milage. I live in texas so steep grades aren't a major issue, just long gradual slopes
I have never had anyone try to race me nor I have ever tried to race anyone else. The Fit is not a race car by any stretch. Plus I probably wouldn't notice anyone racing me anyway, as on the way to work I'm thinking about all I have to do that day and on the way home I'm chilling out brain dead after a tough day of work (I never have an "easy" day at work, I'm a Senior Accountant).
Thankfully with the manual transmission at least I find the Fit spunky enough to keep up with traffic and merge on the freeway no problem. That was a little bit of a worry for me driving a micro car. As a matter of fact I usually find myself driving faster than most cars on the road as the Fit is so much fun to hustle around.

^ I hear that! On every offramp and onramp I'm always testing the limits with my coilover/rear sway setup. I can easily do 40-50 around the tighties. Feels awesome. Can't wait to get all the strutbars/braces and try for 60-70mph!
Who would have ever thought a car that is categorized as a station wagon, could handle so well and be so much fun on a curving road?.... The car is such a well balanced package it comes from the factory and responds so well to just minor tweaks, like lighter wheels and tire upgrades that the U.S. and world after market couldn't ignore it.... It is like the 21st. century equivalent of an air cooled VW Beetle.... Acceleration is an expensive American obsession that's thrill is over in a short period of time and distance, on roads that continue on for miles curving and changing direction.... At least with a Fit lateral G force is affordable and available around around every corner....I am addicted and hate the thought of interstate highway driving since getting this car and though I've spent more money on increasing the power than anything else, just to be able to exit curves faster.... I have to admit that in it's own way the Fit as it came from the dealership is a great car that does so much so well that contest of acceleration from a standing stop just seems silly but don't try to keep up with me around a curve unless you are also in a Fit or something with a considerably larger price tag that won't be able to carry a 50 gallon water heater home from the building supply store..... I guess that people can tell that we are happy with our cars and cant stand it because even after spending so much on what ever it is they are driving, they aren't pleased with it and have to reinforce that their vehicle is in some way superior. They need to make sure their efforts are successful by choosing a car that they know they will not have to watch drive away from them on a straight road.... I seldom put my foot down on the go pedal very hard unless I am speeding up for a turn or sweeping curve and I may never wear out my brakes.... Don't feel short changed or apologetic that your car doesn't run like a muscle car and enjoy what you've got..... Keep smiling, it drives them crazy.

I think you misunderstood you, just because I don't try to race my car doesn't mean I don't have a blast with it. I don't believe in city street racing however nor have I ever thought of the Fit as a car to race against other cars. I do know the handling is fantastic because I often find myself passing others cars on winding two lane roads. Not on purpose, but just because the Fit has such great handling.
The fit handles awesomely. I'll have to post the video of me putting down two consecutive autocross runs, WITH THE EXACT SAME TIME. 50.06 seconds.

I've put off the purchase of the progress anti-sway bar just because the weakest point of cornering already seems to be the tires. And now that my tires are getting a little on the bald side, I can really feel it start to sleep on the corners. It's great feeling the back tires slip around a little though on a curve instead of body roll and fear being the limiting factors.

BLUF: If you're not spending $1200 for a new suspension setup, you're not doing all you can for reducing body roll.
Being probably one of the few forum members who autocrosses regularly (from what I can tell), I can say that the fit's worst problem after you get some decent tires is body roll.
The sway bar can only help to a certain point, but the biggest issue is an overly-soft suspension setup. Once you stiffen up the springs, then I'm sure the torsion beam twist would come into play. Then the rear sway bar can help. Because the monocoque frame was stiffened to meet the crash-test standards, the frame doesn't twist much at all.

i understand what you guys mean, i have a stock galant that handles like a slightly sporty standard family sedan and compared to the Fit i test drove, it handles like a freight train, when on entrance ramps i get decimated by cars with C/O set-ups...(although one of the two guys had a turbo, which may have helped the corner exit hmm)
