I was checking it the old school way while down there, just to see but then again, I always do that. Only a few times have the old method and OBC been together

My averages is old school too. I am noticing the mpg drops faster because of the cold but if I slow down to 55-64mph it goes back up. 64mph seems to be the best summer and so far in the cold. Theres a lot of variables to compare all situations then you have oil and wind to mess all that up. The best gasoline Ive got since 2007 was last year on the Indiana Turn Pike at the BP station near Whiting.

Lightbulb

I'm not a cheap ass, trust me but when I pulled into the BP station yesterday I noticed the sign for regular being $3.05. I pulled to the pump and noticed that 93 was $3.45, not the $3.25 I was expecting so I pulled off. Most stations are .10 cents for every level you go up, not here and I draw the line with this, period. I went down to Shell and filled up with Shell 93 for $3.25. I know it would've been only another $1.00 since I put in 5 gallons but I don't like when stations do that.

I'll look for another BP station in the area and see how it goes

$3.45? Ouch. can't say I blame you, last time I filled up was, Shell @ Lake-Cook/41 it was $3.31/gal.

If it makes you feel any better I averaged about 4mpg doing WOT tuning over the course of 70miles worth of pulls last night. Love that cold air though no knock, lots of timing lots o' boost. Zero traction though with the cold pavement, finally digs in and hooks in 4th gear..

So, $3.31/gal for the Shell 93, $6.25/gal for toluene and (if the kit was in the car it would've been) ~$2/gal for the methanol I normally use

Ya thats high. The BP I go to is only 3.23 for ultimate and 2.99 for regular I believe the extra 4 cents is because there is no ethanol in there ultimate and is taxed at a higher rate. Toluene is considered an additive too so no tax on that either. Its alway 24 cents more here but 2.40 more and getting better mileage typically 10 percent better is worth it to me.

It the week end and prices are going up. Prices are usually settled on Monday so when the price goes up or down its on a Monday. The speculators are at it again unless something happen to the supply line.

I'm not going to worry about it. I bought my Fit to save money when things got crazy then it did and then I did and supercharged it .... I didn't get as crazy as the guys around here that got rid of their big old trucks for smaller ones and are already driving new big trucks... I have a 250cc Chinese made scooter in the barn I can put back together if it gets real bad again or maybe motorize a bicycle.

Theres a snow storm and that explains the increase, everyone filling their tanks and there might be a shortage by Saturday.

I'm going to pay the difference either way and start next week and yeah, the "death storm" is coming tonight. This will be my first snow in the Fit and my new tires, kinda looking forward to it and I've gotta get used to no t/c again but then again, my Contour SVT didn't have t/c but it did have a stick, starting in 2nd gear is all the t/c you really need. Speaking of that, I'm going to put the car in "S" in the morning going to work and start in 2nd, I wonder if that will really work

I have to get gasoline tonight too, My fit handled snow very well. You wont get as much because your further from the lake. I am only 4 miles from the Lake and the lake effect machine is to be turned on so its gonna be a long winter and not looking forward to it. When you get 6-8inch of snow I get 18 because of the Lake.

I found new info that explains Knock. Even though its Toyota it still applies, Theres no way Toyota has a better ecu setup than Honda http://www.toyotapartsandservice.com...-Knock-TPS.pdf

The 2nd gen. Fits have the individual knock control for each cylinder, that why it gets better mpg than the old Fits.

I just topped my gas off it went up to $3.35 a gallon, I am glad I filled up on Friday when it was .15 cents cheaper. I am getting very low mpg, I think its the cold and the short trips I been running. I did average 38 highway but around town it dropped more than I like it. I averaged 32 mpg with 75 miles driven today. It is getting colder and I noticed the timing is more 47 degrees which tells me it looking up Max octane tables.

Thats RFG gas and taxes. So you get less gas for more money. Gasoline tax information - Illinois Gas Prices Plus county taxes and city taxes in Chicago plus some others.

Question Cold weather and extended warm up time has netted....

....23 mpg

How many monthes in winter again

I'm still sticking with BP 93 octane and I mentioned this before and didn't get any real response to this but I swear the trans shifts firmer when using premium, am I imagining this?

The additional ignition timing is the reason the shifting is as firm as it is... On most automatic transmissions the more viscous the ATF the slower the shifting is.... B&M high performance ATF is almost watery in consistency and makes the shifts feel very firm... It seems that in colder weather colder ATF would shift less firmly.
