I did show 32.3 this week and back down a bit, but right now I'm showing about 31.8 mpg, I know the warmer weather is right around the corner, right
I am getting 34 mpg last tank, I thought for sure I would have gotten 36 or better. My scan gauge was off by 4 mpg so I had to reset it. Even though the weather is warmer than its been, it still has to be above 40 before the mpg really go ups. 60 degrees is perfect.

There might be some mpg lost by it going back into the pump, winter gas is more volatile so it produces more vapor and is lost going back through the pump. You have to round out the sale when the pump stops and dont try to add to much. Filling the tank at half is better because more vapor is made when the tank is empty. Cold air kit could be another reason too.

Yeah I just round up to the nearest dollar when the pump stops, so that too much more goes in there.

BTW I've recieved 2 of my 3 BP $10.00 gift cards already, thanks for sending me to BP SB, not only do I thank you but my car does too My g/f just got a 2007 Mazda 6 and I told her to only run BP in her car, starting on mid-grade for now and then I'll see how it goes from there.

Even through the blizzard and "ice box" I'm still at 30 mpg using the "old school" method We've got a warm up coming at the end of the week and I just know the OBC will end up showing 35-36, watch!

They're already talking about pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training and I also heard that the end of the month has a warm up coming, let's hope so!!!

We are breaking records too. This has been a long winter already 55 days with a inch or more of snow on the ground. Average is 44. Also the most snow on the ground in February is 27 inches and only need a few more to get that record. We have had bad winters before but the last one with this much snow was in 78 32 years ago.

I hope the summer is not cold like a few years ago.

I978 was bad down in the Dallas area as far as snow and icy roads... The county I live in now is 100 miles southeast of there so it isn't nearly as bad here. The counties to the north and to the east is supposed to get some ice and snow, It'll probably be cold enough here to shrivel my pecker if it wasn't that way already, but safe to drive.

Being originally from Detroit we too have had our share of bad winters, but these past two in Chicago have "blown away" anything back home that I can remember.

My g/f just got herself a 2007 Mazda 6 w/2.3L w/auto and she's getting 30 mpg per the "old school" method of figuring it out, how is that possible? That's what I get and my car is about 7-800 lbs lighter and has .8 less litre's I'm not complaining or anything, just don't get it. Looking forward to taking that car back home when I visit, give the Fit a break and see what the freeway mileage will be on that car.

Gearing and the advantage of having more torque to start with. Combined with the relatively slick CoD on the Mazda 6. It helps that the Mazda 2.3 even non turbo is pretty efficient.

The same awesome phenomena that allows a family friend to occasionally average in the low 30mpg range in his 7.0L Vette on long highway trips

I am still boondoggled about how I got over 28MPG in an 87 Cadillac Fleetwood from Lake Kiowa Texas to Baton Rouge to Washington D.C. and back with a 600 pound load in it.... It was shifting from 4th to 2nd gear on a lot of the hills going through Virginia..... My ex could never get over 17 MPG out of that car and everyone thought I had a magic right foot... Some cars just have a sweet spot and I think your girl friend has found it on her Mazda. There aren't many women that can pull that off. My present wife always got over 21MPG with her 95 GMC 4.2 V6 powered Sierra pickup and 27 in her Forester that isn't even broke in yet and both put on half the miles on them being driven in town.

Well I know this, when we go home I'm driving the first time and then the next time we go, she'll drive (I'm a bad backseat driver though, so I don't know about that!) I need to look up what that car's "rated" at for mileage. I've added a drop-in K&N and some Water Wetter into the car already. This weekend I'm having the tires rotated and balanced too. I wanted to put a K&N Typhoon on it but the salesman freaked her out about installing aftermarket parts and it voiding out her warrenty, so no to that. That intake is dyno'd to give her car an extra 11.94 hp, that's pretty damn impressive IMO and I bet it sounds good too. I might change out the mufflers, its got 2 of them and they're mini 55 gallon drums too

33.3 mpg last week with a bullitt

Can't wait to see what I get this week too, the OBC is showing 33.1 mpg but when I got the above number it was only showing 31.7 mpg...up and up and up it goes!

The Mobil 1 0w20 and Royal Purple oil filter go in today, after 9100 miles on the previous Mobil 1 0w30 and Mobil 1 oil filter, so that should help out too, the correct warm weight, my bad

Should not be to much of a difference but the right oil is in there now. My mpg is up and the ultra gauge is showing the fuel trims pulling fuel even with a mix of 89 and 93. Like you I notice a slight power decrease but that might not be a bad thing. I wont use regular with all the highway driving I do. When the gas prices goes up this spring its go to know that midgrade works OK.

THIRTY SIX MPG ON MY LAST TANK!!! Before that I got 29.1 and right before that it was 33.3 (don't know why it went down to 29.1) Looking forward to seeing what it is on my next tank. IMO the correct, thinner warmer weight of 20w has made a difference over the 30w, what else could it be, its the only thing that's changed in my car. Old oil vs. new oil alone wouldn't do that.

SB, you said something about WHEN the gas prices go up in the spring, well, based on the gas prices right now, I should be wearing shorts right now

Thats great, Ive been experimenting with BP mid grade. My mpg is up but so is the temperatures. I am also experimenting with a new Ultra Gauge. As long as prices go up premium is a better deal. Even if they drop it still affordable and the better running motor and easier to drive is worth it. The mid grade is not bad but dont like having to press the accelerator to half way to pass and wont hold speed with out the same.

The oil is helping too and I will look into that on next oil change. Honda recommends 0w20 in Japan and they have warmer temps there. Here is a link to check out Honda | ƒ³ƒp[ƒc•ƒAƒNƒZƒTƒŠ[ | ƒGƒ“ƒWƒ“ƒIƒCƒ‹ | ƒGƒ“ƒWƒ“ƒIƒCƒ‹‚ÌŠî‘b’mޝ need to translate but worth the look.

So how's that UG working out for you Silver? I'm slowly honing in on the fuel levels [I'm displaying gal remaining in tank] and the MPG's are getting closer to what the OBC shows, but I'm thinking they're a bit off from calculated.

Will soon be switching to premium and will continue to watch fuel trim.

What's the best way to translate that link of your???

Klasse - I've seen a nice jump in the MPG last few days and I'm due for the second oil change. Will be switching to Mobile1 from here on out. Not sure what to think about the MPG thing.

Too ENGLISH

I am loving the Ultra gauge. My mpg is around 34 with the mid grade but miss the drive-ability of premium. My timing is lower and I like just resting my foot on the gas pedal compared to actually pushing down on the gas pedal. My fuel trims are -2.3 for the most part which I like.

It seems the required oil is 0w20. They are now using 2w oil in japan in there Hybrids so I hope soon they sell it here soon. Reading all the links it also seems they use a oil additive which is a moly base additive in every oil change. There is 2 types of moly old and new. The old is cheap and the new is 40 dollars or more. The new also does not build up and absorbs into the metals almost like Zmax but is a moly base. The fuel injection is a poly isobutanes base which is in our gasolines now. More in premiums and less in regular which help in complete combustion and then goes into the oil to help in the lubrication of the parts. Thats another reason of the extended oil changes.

Dont use to much fuel injection cleaner, once a year should be more than enough and use less not more.

My fuel mileage has taken a dive since my last oil change using 10w30 and a few ounces of Lucas oil stabilizer...Using the lower viscosity synthetic oil made a huge positive difference, changing to what I am now using has done the opposite... My problem with blow by seems to have subsided at a cost of roughly 4 MPG based on calculations from 1 fill up... There may be other issues that have popped up related to emissions control that also play into the loss of mileage as well that needs to be diagnosed and dealt with.
