I've been searching for fuel distribution maps of the NA. Typical octane/grades/%-ethanol at-the-pump choices mapped out. Hard to find... would like to start at the well head.

I am still looking but cant find what I am looking for. I am getting 42 mpg at 46 average mph and thats 60/40 highway. So the faster I drive the better the mpg. How does that happen?

31.6 MPG LAST TANK, A/C AND A BIT MORE CITY DRIVING I just moved and will be taking the freeway about 85% of the trip and is a 24 mile trip all together, so that should increase my figure some more. I'm trying to get into another place that's about 31-35 miles one way and that one would be about 90-95% freeway driving....stay tuned

MPG will go up with more highway. At 70 mph I am getting 62 mpg in my Civic according to the ultra gauge and even if its off its still more than 50. I want to try synthetic in this car but I am getting better mpg than I though with out it.

I just filled up the civic and getting 38.3 mpg and went to the cheaper BP and paid 4.34 for ultimate. My last 3 tanks I averaged near the same but got it at the corporate one that was sold a few years ago and they charge more. I got 40.2 on 3 tanks and going to do the same with this station. I noticed that the car seems heavier than normal filling up so I might have shaved a few mpg off the average. I hope the mpg average out to be the same and this way I know the gas is not that different but if it averages lower than I see them having a choice of ethanol or something else. My commute is the same so its easy to use it for comparison.

The temperatures are coming down this week but at least not the 40s so its still warm enough that it wont be an issue.

Filled up the first time and got 35.6 MPG on a mix of city and highway. Pretty happy considering I was getting between 12-16 MPG with my Xterra.

Well I got 33.8 mpg today and because I was at Costco today, saving money, I thought I'd try the Costco gas in my car. I've had it before in other cars without a problem, so we'll see how it goes. I paid $4.12 a gallon for 93, the regular 87 was $3.92 and its Memorial Day weekend, imagine that.

My mpg fell this week too. Going north I was driving into a head wind and the ultra gauge said at 70 mph I was at 70 percent load on motor and my 2 week average dropped to 36mpg. There is a difference between the two bp gas stations and I feel the more expensive station has better premium and worth the extra 10 cents. My next tank will be from there and I will see, to get a 40.2 mpg average from 38 the 2 tanks before I had to be getting middle 40s. I will reset the ultra gauge and see. I also noticed my fuel trims richened up from -4.7 to -2.3 so there is a difference.

Heard gas prices to fall to 3.50 or so this summer. I hope

Thanks.

Got 31.9 MPG today when I filled up. First half tank was killed by a headwind on the highway on monday. City driving the rest of the tank was better.

I got 37.7 a little drop but I am happy with that on a 2 tank average. The weather was cooler and hit more city traffic and 45 minutes on the Interstate not moving with the AC on because of a car fire.

Filled up a couple days ago and got 35.5 MPG. Best tank since my first tank which was 90% higway and this one was almost 100% city driving with average speeds of about 40 MPH and moderate stop and go rush hour traffic to and from work.

My last tank netted me 35.0 mpg but I'm not taking the expressway to work, its mostly city driving but the lights are kinda far and inbetween and the morning has me making better time for sure and on the way home there's alot more traffic. Using the a/c 2 weeks ago got me down to 30.5 mpg but it was in the mid to upper 90's, no way in hell I wasn't turning on the a/c!

Don't know when I'm taking the Fit back home to Detroit so not sure about the mileage change there but we'll see, sooner or later.

35 mpg is not bad but 30 is a little low just from AC use. You need to get a ultra gauge and see what the car is doing and compare it from tank to tank. It helps a little especially when taking off from lights and getting to cruise. I notice that if I just get to cruise I forget to lift off a little and mpg reads 35 compared to 45. Lately I am see 120 mpg at 60mph on flat ground but that is only for a few seconds because the highway is never totally flat but if you go up there will be times you can coast down. You should get great mpg on the road trip back home.

I've been driving my wife's car on Fridays and Saturdays with the ultra gauge on the car. She had regular and the fuel trims were around 0. I filled up Friday night with mid grade and put on 200 miles and thought the mpg would be similar to mine. I drove 80 of those 200 miles and the car only averaged 30 when I filled up this morning at BP. 429 for Ultimate but I know this gas is good, I filled up 10 gallons on Monday in my car and averaging 44 mpg. My point is BP Ultimate is ethanol free around here and I see -10 fuel trims for both. You might need to do a idle re learn with a full tank of premium and see what your mpg does. My Fit got near 40 average in the Summer so you should get that or better on your trip North.

I am mad at the fuel prices too compared to the rest of the Country. We have RFG North so not sure what the difference is except maybe more cleaners and because of the dense population around Chicago we use more fuel so they charge us more.

@Klasse Act, I found something from the 70s that might explain things better. Take a look at the knock retard chart and mpg lost for auto trans and accessory's. http://csauth.ccny.cuny.edu/ci/clean...ivate-Cars.pdf

Found some more http://calteches.library.caltech.edu/648/2/Cars.pdf
