Did a highway run yesterday - 35mpg@72mph over two hours time. Locally I see 37. This car has always given better local mpg than highway.
Was this with the OBC? Highway mileage is always better than city unless you've got a hybrid. I always set my cruize at 70 mph on my freeway trips and have gotten between 36.5 mpg (when brand new) to 43 mpg and 41 mpg w/my new tire/wheel combo and that's also with the use of 87 octane and non-BP fuels too. I will be taking my Fit back to Detroit possibly in June, so we'll see how it goes.

I've come to understand the OBC in my 2010 is within 1.5mpg of by the numbers. I've seen this local/highway difference for most of the past year I've owned it. My local isn't 'city' driving by any means. More rural with a bit of suburban would describe it. I attest it to being able to drive at 45-55 legally over a large part of my local driving as opposed to the 70mph on the open road. Today I was seeing numbers closer to 36/37 on another highway run. Friday I head north. Time for a long highway run on Ultra93 and check the OBC to the measured numbers. Never have seen highway numbers above 38, however.

But to be sure - these are observations not complaints, I'm lovin it big time.

I will add I find the EPA's breakdown rather 2 sided, but it to is for comparative purposes.

I had an 86 Fleetwood Brougham with the 305 Oldsmobile V8 that I drove to DC and back and got an average on a couple of tanks of 28 MPG.. That was very close to what I am now seeing with the present performance mods to my Fit... I can easily live with it since I don't have to drive very often.. I am almost always late or forgetting something I have to turn around and return to the house for so I really do need to have a car that will make up for my weaknesses.

Amazing how those behemoths gave such mileage, the landshark was giving me close to that - sludge held it back, however. I just saw a TV add for some kind of new pickup - bragged at 20mpg highway.

Not to nitpick but its just in my automotive DNA, sorry. Your Caddy had a 305 Chevy, the Olds motor was a 307 and IIRC they (GM) used the small block in your Caddy. Now, I do know that Caddy used the Olds Rocket 350 in the Seville from the mid 70's, the one based off of the Nova, imagine that AND it was fuel injected, the first Caddy to offer that.

My mpg is way up today at 70 mph the ultra gauge says 65mpg and average 41. The fuel trims are -4.7LT and ST -3.1 to -5.5. I got gas near work and paid 20 cents more a gallon in taxes. I feel its different from my normal station, so maybe they were selling midgrade as premium over the winter.

It was an Olds engine, I was 2" off on the displacement,, We had a Canadian built 1979 Pontiac Safari Wagon that used the same engine. The Olds 350 used that year in Cadillacs I believe was a diesel.

I didn't know the Caddy's used Olds engines except for diesels, I stand corrected. Canada had some different things going on up there, remember the Parisienne? Growing up in Detroit I would see them pretty frequently, not to mention the Arcadians that show up the car shows, also Beumonts too.

When the temps got above 60 the mpg went up but today it was cooler and the mpg is back to lower 30. I figure it will average around 35-36 which is better than the winter mpg. The btu content is lower and I see the car struggle to keep that mpg. The real problem is the price and that winter fuel is cheaper yet we are paying summer time fuel prices.

Thats better. Went to get gas at the corner for premium for Sons Turbo and after running the car could smell toluene, so the gas is changing too. We are very close to finishing the Acura DA coupe. The b18 started and ran to 6200 rpms after a proper warm up. the turbo sounds cool and really not much tuning required, but have to detune for my son so he don't hurt himself.

My 2 sons are working on my 16 year old car. They are trying to get it done for a trip to Atlanta Georgia car show next month but that might not happen.
They bought a used car from a friend that stopped working on it, The car sat outside but has a new engine and the original owner wanted a 400 horsepower turbo. I will work on showing some pics this week but have find them. They painted it in my garage and we ran it yesterday and sounded good. It needs to be tuned but runs OK as is. My avatar is my sons first try to HP in a B16a which is a great platform to HP. It revs high I had fun helping him build it.

I am a little disappointed in premium gas, a few years ago there was a big difference. They cheapen it so the quality is not the same. Ever thing I said about premium is suppose to hold true and I see the timing advance and feel the extra power. The cost for winter blend was also cheaper a few years ago and it might be a good idea to use 89 winter and 93 spring/fall until winter blends come in.

I drove my wife car today and noticed that it runs really good on premium, but her mpg on that tank was 26 compared to my 35 or higher. So short trips really hurt mpg. So there is no confusion I had a '08 Fit Sport but now have 2 civics. I traded my Fit in because of the civic better mpg and auto trans but miss the Fit very much.

Man, you guys are griping about low temperatures and I have my A/C in the house running... It's 87 degrees outside right now but feels warmer than the last few days when it was 89 degrees with a nice breeze from out of the south. It won't be long before it is too hot to go outside between noon and sunset.

Ha - I just found myself in Old Town, Maine. Beeutiful... come tomorrow PM it's rain/snow for the next three days 5-6 inches of snow. 89-90 weather is a distant dream to me now.

Crack a cold one for me Coyote! Boat Show was great. More on that later.

This up and down weather is playing havoc with the ECU IMO Today I got 32.0 mpg but used the car a bit differently over the weekend, another couple in the car and a little more lights. I guess I'll have to wait it out a little longer like everyone else as far as the weather goes.

Also, I just wheeled my car for the first time, actually, its the first time I've wheeled a car in my life! I clayed the car, then used my Griots Garage Machine Polish 3 and finished it off with their Best of Show wax, this should make the car just slip through the air I used alot of Klasse products on my car and the past and will continue to do so, ofcoarse, its in my screen name but I will say that the Fit just shimmered when I took off the caranuba but damn did it take alot of work compared the acrylic products from Klasse, damn!

I noticed that our thread, yeah, its our thread is limited to three or four of us, EVERYONE IS WELCOMED

My first tank

First fill-up today and I got exactly 37.0 mpg. This was combined city/country/highway driving. Haven't checked tire pressure yet and wasn't really driving for economy so very pleased with that mpg. I know I can get higher if I try. My previous car would have been 21mpg using premium gas so big improvement for me.
