Honda announces recall
Had my motion spring service done yesterday. I can't even see any sign in the engine bay that they worked on the car. I guess I have to take their word for it that they did it.
BTW, where is the VIN located on the Fit engine?

I got mine back. They replaced the springs and rotated the tires (free, since I bought them there). The reassembly looks good, but I think the valvetrain is noisier than before. Unfortunately, I can't prove this, but I'll be going back to discuss this next week.
It should sound louder.. The exhaust valves are the ones that wear the mosts and tighten up the valve clearance by wearing into the valve seats.. When they lose clearance they can't completely close and can become hot enough to melt along the edge and break off into the combustion chamber.
I scheduled an appointment with the dealer almost a week ago for this recall and I asked them to have the required parts in stock as I was not going to do two trips. Well I drove there this morning and they nothing of my appointment or my request, it appears that they really don't take appointments it is just first come first served.
They were completely unwilling to budge from the line that this recall "MUST" be done in two appointments and that Honda does not allow the dealers to pre order the parts they have to prove the car needs the part before Honda will ship them the part.
I knew this was going to end badly when I got there and tried to explain my problem, the service advisor was barley interested in the reason I was there for, he just kept looking over the car obviously looking for things things to up sell me.
The service advisor did offer to let me talk to a manager and I said OK, but after 10 minutes and no manager showing up I decided to leave as it was obvious they did not care about my business.
I would recommend to any other SoCal'ers to stay away from Weir Canyon Honda, I am going to try and find another dealer who hopefully will not try and screw me over.

^^wow. that just sucks.
my dealer told me to schedule the recall/repair a few days in advance so they (the dealer) can place an order specific to my car, that will arrive in time for the repair date.
they also told me they have already done recalls..... so the process, one would assume, is working for them.

wedgecon, that is just messed up; period. I would be making a complaint to Honda Corporate on that one. I called Visalia Honda who confirmed my car was on the recall list via VIN and scheduled an appointment straight away, it was done in 3 hours and drives like a dream as a result.
Wishing you better luck with a different dealership.

I got mine back on Thursday. I everything looks good, I just went out and rechecked. But now I have a noise (like when you hit a pot hole; closest sound I could think of) going up hills without hitting pot holes. It happened to my twice up one hill (pretty steep) and once up another hill, a little less steep but a lot longer.
i have 2 dealerships equally close to me so i called both. The girl at the first dealer told me that the next available appointment isn't until APRIL 26th, because they only have one "machine" (i'm guessing tech) that can do the job, and they do it as fast as "one fit a day". so i told her i'd call her back.
the next girl i spoke to at the other dealership along the way told me that the next shipment for the parts on the recall were arriving this coming tuesday and they would like to keep the vehicle for at least half a day. so i made my appointment for next thursday...which sure beats waiting til the 26th of april. i just hope the techs are competent enough to NOT break the clips on the plastic windshield cowl...which seems to be an issue.

When I had coils install they removed the cowl as well and no broken clip, yet a service tech breaks the clip?? and then hope the customer don't notice and not bother to order new clips. /shake head

Unfortunately (for Honda), the clips are molded as part of the cowl, not separate pieces. So Honda will have to replace the entire cowl if the service tech damages the clips.
are there any moderators on this forum at all??
this thread should be pinned... as should the other on this topic.
this thread easily gets buried way down the page behind three "i just bought a fit!" threads.
