Honda announces recall
Scheduled for A Tuesday Recall session. Sending the car with my wife. I'm the first I guess at my local Honda Dealer.
It's like a wing on the back.. the taller the more power you have. I'm addling LMS Stickers to my car for at least a 50hp boost.

Why doesn't "Fit Freak" take the post with the VIN number range, or simply that information, coupled with maybe Honda's official announcement and make a sticky thread called FIT LOST MOTION SPRING RECALL INFORMATION?
Whatever side of the debate or VIN number range you land on....this is big news for Fit Owners...
Doesn't make sense that this is the only all encompassing thread about it...forcing discussion, debate, wisdom and idiocy, Information and Mis-Information to all be channeled into this thread.

Just called my dealer. Looked up my info and said Im not affected. I purchased my 2010 sport in May 2010. I asked the guy if maybe the info on the database hadnt been updated yet, but he told me Honda would have had the info updated by now.
So that good news. But, ill still wait to see if I get a letter from Honda, and probably keep checking my VIN# on the honda recall page.

Bingo.
There has only been one USDM LMS failure that I can find any mention of. In a recall of ~95k vehicles.
Think about that.
The vastness of the recall is probably to avoid the non-sense and sensationalist media hype that had Toyota's sterling reputation dragged through the mud and hauled before congress for an embarrassingly over the top brow-beating by fat old f*cks who had no idea what they were talking about, but needed to make a distraction from the Big 3's failures and faults as of late.
Not to mention that the F150 recalls and others that involved domestic manufacturers were completely ignored during that time period.
Much of what the independent investigations and Toyota's found was that these people had genuinely mistaken the gas for the brake (as the ECU's RAM memory proved) and then there were those who were straight up making fraudulent claims. Like the guy who called the police while he was allegedly experiencing "unintended acceleration" only to be found a fraud in the ensuing inquiry.
Audi had the same issue in the 90's, people just like having someone to blame and pay out for their mistakes.

If someone can direct me to another Fit that has experienced the LMS failure though, I would be curious to see what went down.

Keep faith in Honda, they are making right by the owners, and they didn't necessarily have to make the recall. But they did anyways. Additionally replacing the springs involves taking off the rocker bridge and then some minor work on the top of the valvetrain.
It's really not that involved. I would be willing that 9/10 FF members could do this with a gun to their heads in a couple hours.

Others might just need some music and a beer or three.

You raise a very interesting issue by asking a very logical question, best put by Simon and Garfunkel

I think in order for a lot of people to be open minded and receptive enough to see the big picture they have to be under the influence of a mind expanding hallucinogen.

Hello Recall my Old Friend...
I've logged into Honda Owners Link Again...
Because of Lost Motion Spring softly creaking...
Left insecurities while I was drinking...
And the VIN range that was planted in my Brain
drives me insane..
Should I call The Dealership?
And in the vague light I saw...90,000 owners maybe more!
People wondering without knowing!
People waiting for a notice...
People awaiting valve jobs that may never come... blind, deaf and dumb..
Awaiting a letter from Honda...
Uh...
Anyway, when I went in for an oil change (I'll do it on my own later), I wasn't sure if I wanted my Fit to actually be recalled or not, it's not in the VIN range... but a "free valve adjustment" is something.

But Coyote makes a good point, this isn't necessarilly all bad. Free work.....as long as its done right
haven't been on in a while, but my last post couple months back complained of a ticking noise reverberating through the cabin that a dealer diagnosed as "normal" valve tapping. well, took it to another dealer on friday and, what do you know, they found a broken lost motion spring. advisor tells me it's the first example of an actual broken spring he's seen. they have me in a rental car while waiting on parts. i'm told could be as late as wednesday before i get the car back.
noise started after my 1,000+ mile drive in windy and bitter cold conditions over hilly terrain. i'm just glad it didn't stall on me over i-80 in the middle of nowhere, but still pissed the first dealer had no interest in doing real diagnostic work.

We'll find out tomorrow but I think I'm included.

I just got my fit back form my dealer after he did the recall. Nothing much to report really. The service dept was courteous, professional, and prompt. My Fit ran and sounded fine before the recall and the same holds true after the recall. No extra horses under the hood, like some have reported though.
While there, I looked at the crz. Looks kinda cool but definitely not the car you want if you expect to be hauling people or much stuff.
