Really Odd OBDII Issue with 2010 Fit...Input Appreciated

Hi Guys,
My '10 Fit has 83K miles (all highway). Yesterday it kicked a check engine light. I went and got my handy Auto Xray Scanner and plugged it into the port, turned the car on (to 2nd notch) and the scanner says connected and reading but nothing comes up. I tried it several times, replaced the batteries in the scanner, downloaded the most up to date software for the scanner...nothing.

Now...here comes the really odd stuff...when I plugged in the scanner again and turned the car to 2nd notch on...my abs light came on, the transmission indicator on the dash "D" started blinking, my emergency brake light came on, even though the brake was off and my air bag light came on. Still no code.

So I kept playing with it and finally I got a code and dummy me I did not write it down...I went immediately to clear the code...(it was late and I was not thinking clearly)...of course it does not clear the code and hangs up again. I tried to get the code back but I could not get the scanner to read...pain the the butt.

Any ideas? I have been doing this for years and never had a problem reading codes. I wonder if its the ECM...but the car is running fine and everything works as it should...except that check engine light is on.

maybe your code reader is broken?

go to autozone and see if theirs reads it
