Something practical for your Fit
I wanted to have an easy way to tie the hatch down, when I need to carry something that needs to have the hatch open. There are no places on the hatch to tie a rope, or hook a bungee cord.
I took a link from a chain, (think it was a 5/16" chain) and just pushed it into the open latch, on the hatch, until it closed on the link. Perfect place to tie a rope!

Haven't figured out how to post a picture yet.
With your hatch open, look at the latch. It will be in the open position. Take something the same diameter as the loop, on the cargo area floor, and press it into the latch. It will close on it. Do this with a link from a chain, and you have a loop to tie or hook onto.
I found a long quick link, like this one.

I've had good luck using the latch on the back hatch of the car in a similar manner. When I moved about 9 months ago, I had a couple of things that just wouldn't fit length wise in my little River car, so I used a ratcheting tie down that had a hook about the same gauge as the hatch's loop. It held secure the whole drive, though the drive was only 10 miles.

I thought that there was a place to bungee on the hatch, out of memory, but I have yet to need to keep the hatch open when traveling.
