2013 mpg...
So this weekend I went on a road trip and after 220 miles this was my average mpg.

pretty good for a non hybrid car
. Overall it was 42.4 mpg.
Everyday it feels like an awesome decision to buy a fit....

Nice! A couple weeks ago I got 5.7L/100Km(41.3 us MPG) as my avg doing 60/40 city and highway driving.
If you dont already have the tension spring installed on your gas pedal, you should consider it. It could improve your MPG even more, and also make it more comfortable holding your foot on the pedal for longer trips.

Very nice! Manual or Auto? I got my Fit Base MT a month ago and the first long trip I took in it was 600 miles through the white mountains in NH. Averaged 41.2.
I find my MPG really excels at 50-55 mph roads. I get 38ish on the highway, but if I can keep her in 5th on some quick moving non-highway roads it get over 40. I also love coasting.

This is also exactly what I saw after I did my first bit of extended highway driving last weekend (M/T). 300 mile roundtrip to/from Pennsylvania plus some city hopping. Not babying it, but not beating on it either.
My girlfriend's 2007 Yaris (A/T 1.5L) scratched 40mpg on a 600 mile trip into Virginia. I want to see if I can achieve similar results when we go again this summer.

The torque converter on any car made in the past twenty years, if not longer, will lock up at highway speeds. Or, at the least, the exceptions are so rare as to be not worth considering. The power wastage (and hence efficiency drop) from not having a locking torque converter is far, far too large for manufacturers to skip it.
The spring is just 3 dollar project. You need two S hooks and an expanding tension spring around 3.5 to 5 inches in length when in its compressed state.
You then hook the spring up using the S hooks with one end at the top of the gas pedal shaft, and the other hooked into the metal bracket next to the diagnostic connector. I plastidipped my hooks so they wouldn't slide down the pedal shaft.
The tension from the spring will be enough to hold this in place.
The added tension from this spring lets your foot actually rest on the pedal when cruising on the highway, and also makes it easier to drive in an efficient manner.

Actually I reset my trip/avg numbers before starting. Before that my avg was 29.1 (70city/30hwy). Also, it was a concious effort to keep mpg indicator above 40 all the time. No hard braking or sudden acceleration either...
A couple of weeks ago we drove r/t from NW Atlanta to Brunswick. It's about 360 miles one way. 42 mpg going down and 39 mpg coming back. The year before we did 41+ both ways. Weather wasn't the greatest coming back. We never had to stop and fill up both ways. The Fit's mpg really shines on the highway.
Around the city it's consistently around 34-35mpg. The Fit's mpg has exceeded my expectations. Love this car!

You might want to try using an MPG calculator like Fuelly.com to keep track of your MPG. My experience with the onboard trip computer is that its usually a little more generous with the calculation of MPG and less accurate than calculating it yourself using your odometer readings. The trip computer is probably not WAY off....maybe just off by 1-3 MPG.
