I really hope they give us the hatch. my dog won't fit in any Mazda smaller than a '5'. the dual clutch will be great; can't stand the rubber band CVT's. I'm allergic to crossover's and SUV's, so I'm hoping for the best...

The problem is... it doesn't particularly say it has anything to do with CVT technology... more of an issue with BMW engineering on the Mini. That same article links to a power steering failure. And if I'm not mistaken, Minis were having an issue with spontaneously catching fire.

Are you saying cars in general will have those issues?

I mean, if you had at least cited one on Honda CVT, that's something.

True, I cannot cite any knowledge of Honda CVT issues. However I traded my 2009 Nissan Cube in for my 2013 Fit mainly because the CVT on my Cube had to be replaced after only 20k miles and I feared it would happen again...only next time I'd probably be out of warranty. I've also met other people who've had CVT issues from various manufacturers. So maybe I'm unjustly prejudice against CVTs because of my first hand experience. We'll have a better idea of how well Honda's CVTs hold up when the 2013+ Accords have aged a bit. Regardless of the build quality, I also found the constant climbing of RPMs to be quite annoying and I prefer a traditional automatic over a CVT.

Now that you've said you had a Nissan CVT issue and met people with CVT issues from other manufactures, then your dislike becomes more understandable.

Before this, I thought you were one of those people that had no experience with a technology, but had decided to pass judgement on it anyway.

For myself, I have no first hand experience with CVT on cars. I do have a Ruckus, which is CVT. And tbh... I love it. I've driven 4 wheeled vehicles for almost 20 years, so I'm plenty comfortable in cars (prefer manual trans). But very little experience on motorized 2 wheelers, so the less complications for me (ie shifting), the better.

Good to see this all new hybrid system, and a DCT. Can't believe Honda has finally jumped into the DCT game.
