stalling out

Hi! I have an '08 Fit, Sport model, and I've got a problem that my dealership is having trouble diagnosing. On very cold mornings, my car will start up, run for a few seconds, and then, about the time I get to the end of my driveway or street, it will sputter and die. The dealership first cleaned out the throttle body, then recommended flushing the transmission fluid, which I had done at Penzoil. Now, they want to try adjusting the valves, but they don't know if that's it. They can't replicate it in this warmer weather, because like I said, it only happens when it's really cold. Has anybody run into this?
Thanks a lot!

88k miles. Have read a little on here--possibly need valves adjusted, or new coils? Anyone think it might be one over the other?

Did you try letting it run a little longer without moving to see if it still sputters out?

Steve, no trouble getting it to start again, but if it's really cold, it might shut off once or twice more.

Goobers, I hadn't thought to try that.

My guess would be fuel/air ratio when cold. Maybe the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor. It'll need a valve adjustment soon anyway so that can't hurt and might help.

If the springs broke it wouldn't start at all. Besides the OP has an '08.
