Manual trans owners, help me identify this

Did an oil change yesterday and noticed this. At the tip of clutch slave pushrod between the rubber accordian boot and the clutch arm is a white plastic bushing. Mine appears worn and spins freely. It has some notches on it like it should snap into something but I cannot figure out how. Clutch arm is smooth without any notches. Went to the Honda parts fiche and it doesn't show this part so even more a mystery now??? Can someone look at their car and feedback what they find preferably with a photo.

It probably doesn't mean anything.

If you've done the swift springs, you'd see the big bushing/grommet is notched for the front struts too, but there's no matching notch on anything else for it to mate to.

edit: from what I can gather (online), that accordion part is part of the clutch slave cylinder. the metal bracket is the "clutch release fork." the cylinder only pushes on the fork and there might be grease on the contact point... and the part you're talking about, appears only to keep the grease in and dust out (or at least, to a minimum)... many pictures of Honda's cylinder + fork don't even have it.

Does your car have it? If yes is it attached in any way? Mine is entirely free spinning and moves laterally on the clutch pushrod as well. But doesn't move with the push rod or ever get pressure put on it even with clutch engaged. Just a mystery do nothing part so I cannot believe mine is normal as no reason Honda would put it there.

yup, I have it. free to spin also.

like I said, I think it's sole purpose is a basic "grease in/dust out" cover because the boot doesn't reach.

incidentally, it's not white. it's black, you just have dust covering yours.
