I just got my driver side airbag recall done today.
First contact with dealer by email on May 24'2016,
I never ask for rental car because I am not sure about my insurance coverage for rental (Insurance is commercial insurance from the company I work for).
so the process done in about 40 days for me.

 

Just check the vin number of my GE8 on the recall page and YES....passenger side must be replace too.I can NOT believe it....

 

Will Honda provide rental for passenger side airbag recall?

 

Spoke to a someone at Honda recall center and asked when drivers side airbags would be ready . Was told September . Also told of some people not being able to find rentals .

 

Yes they will provide rental. I have a rental car right now for almost a month and they said the passenger airbag parts will arrive late summer or early fall.

 

I am on day 67 of rental car usage. Love this!

 

Poor Fit not getting trickle charged. Hopefully they let you put stabilizer in it before you left it at the dealer.

 

Since when are GE's effected by passenger airbag issues?

 

6/15/2016.... only certain VINs though. I have a 2010 and mine is only in need of a drivers airbag

 

Yeah nothing, its dead for sure. Luckily I got an extended warranty on my 2010 that doesn't expire until March of 2017.... So I am going to make damn sure they extend it another "at least" 2 months AND make sure all fluids are replaced and hoses and what not checked before I take re-delivery of it.


I just had my trans fluid changed a month before I decided to turn it in... which in hindsight, was dumb lol

 

Finally got around to scheduling an appointment for the airbag recall at Honda Tysons Corner in VA. Has anyone in the DMV get it done at this dealer? I'm a little weary of leaving the Fit at the dealer for an unknown number of days but hopefully they will provide a nice rental.

 

airbag recall done today. i should have waited. they called me after 45 minutes when I got to work.

 

Which NJ dealer did you go to? DCH old bridge said they didn't even get the parts yet and it may be until early fall.

My 2012 Fit is on the recall list. I only got the initial letter saying to expect a second letter when parts are available. Haven't got that letter yet. Are others here getting the second letter saying parts are available? Thanks.

 

I guess it depends... I never got a 2nd letter but the Dealership called me to tell me to turn in the rental because the airbag has been replaced.


I am not sure if that was because it was already at the dealer or what.

 

Thanks for the reply. I got my car used (from Carmax) and not through a dealer. Though there is a dealer which I've taken my car to for previous recall work (stabilizer software).

 

yeah you have to start the process by contacting your dealer/honda rep. they won't just set up appointments or anything for you automatically.

 

actually it doesn't matter where you bought the car. just call American Honda and get a case number. then go to local dealer and ask for a free rental/loaner. that will help you speed up the process. albeit, it still took me 97 days in a rental to get it fixed.

 

This what happened when they replace SRS airbags on mine 2012 jazz GE6. really angry about it. according to them its not big of concern..... but this is not ok...
