Has anyone seen the updated list of the passenger side recall? I can't find it online.

I would be shocked if they offer a rental for the passenger side. There is no requirement for someone to sit there like the drivers side. May be inconvenient, but I bet that will be their angle. On top of that I am sure that they will document that you were warned and made aware of the risk so if someone is hurt then they are not liable. One could argue in the case of a family that all seats would be filled and then the need for rental could be evident.

I ran my VIN today to see because it says now "last updated 6/6/16" but didn't list a second recall yet. they did say on or after, so who knows how long it will take to appear as a recall

talked to gm of local honda dealer today. honda is not using takata for replacements, no way to give a date on when airbag will be in. some weeks they get a bunch, others not so much. no disabling of airbags by the dealership
they have a conference call wednesday about the new airbag recalls

Toyota remedy for some of their affected vehicles is for passengers to sit in rear seat .

i was under the impression they were just replacing the air canisters not the actual air bag.... or are you talking about the passenger side bags.

RECALLS : New Federal law starting 6/1/16 for RENTAL agencies to get recalls done . Effective Today: New Federal law for recalled rental cars protects consumers from vehicle safety defects | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) . This should apply to all dealerships as well . Big or small ( including indivisuals ) . New or used . This may impact the availability of rentals to those with recall(s) .

I've read that the first notice for passenger recall will be mailed by June 27, 2016.

The air bag is not what was replaced...just the propellant in the inflator. Which would lead me to believe the same is applicable to the passenger side if takata provided those inflation devices as well.

Great link Utsug, very explanatory of to what is exactly happening.

so take the rental. my dealer only said to drive my Fit at my own risk, not to not drive it at all. sit the rental on your driveway to get the airbag recall rolling. its a no brainier they will prioritize people with rentals before people without at $20+/day. besides, the less wear and tear on the car is well worth it.

Exactly.... when you drive your recalled car you aren't exactly holding a flame under their arse to get it fixed. I am still hoping I am going to fall through the cracks with my rental so I can keep it for a while. BUT right now they are on the hook for $1,250 for my rental alone (3200 miles on the rental so far too).

It's common sense to fix those that are bleeding money first before those that aren't costing you a dime.

I held out getting a rental, but now that I got one for free.... it's a no brainer

Going to keep driving them . Safety for all should be first concern for Honda , not $ . Equal opportunity for fix .

but when it comes down to the odds are 1 in several million you will be affected by a faulty airbag then yes, it does come down to stopping the bleeding cash.

Safety is #1 issue... which is why it is offering up FREE rental cars to all those who are included in recall (millions). By people driving the recalled cars (I was at fault to) they are effectively bucking the caring about safety. Honda is one of the FEW companies that isn't telling its customers "good luck with that!" when it comes to the airbags. They offered up a viable temporary fix to help the safety of its customers.

Just because you don't want to take advantage of Hondas interm fix, doesn't mean that they are now not caring about the safety of us.

I already had my driver's side airbag replaced, so I'm driving my Fit. When I ran my Vin yesterday, there were no active recalls on the car. Has anyone found out yet whether Honda is providing rentals for the passenger-side recalls? I want the rental because it really does speed up the replacement.

I just spoke to a rep at American Honda. The passenger-side recalls are VIN specific----it depends on the location and date of manufacture. Best to call them and have them run your VIN. She seemed confident that this was the final word, meaning that since I'm not included in the recall, I won't be later. She also thought that dealers already have replacement parts----at least, that was her response when I asked if rentals would be provided for passenger-side recalls.

and I just got another letter from ford saying parts are to be expected in the 4th quarter of this year. So they haven't forgot about us lol Its been on recall for me since 7/15
The pre-2015 V6's could be really nice, with a lot of options available. 2015 onward they stripped the options in favor of the EB & GT. The forums have all complained and it appears they positioned the V6 for entry level, and rental/lease market. They may have to rethink that because 2016 Camaro RS in a V6 is going to beat the EB hands down on performance and handling.

RE my Mustang GT (a.k.a. Garage Queen) There were two recalls on the 2005, an initial recall for an interim air-bag replacement, then a recall on the recall. So for me, it's been since 2014.

Not sure what "heat soak" means. Do you mean the temps were too hot for the inter-cooler to effectively cool the engine? The EB has got great reviews from reviewers on YouTube, even one reviewer who lives in AZ. The one great thing about the EB is it's "mod friendly". On American Muscle, one guy is pulling down 400 HP from his EB. The tunes are available, suspension, new aftermarket inter-coolers, etc.. But then again, just get a GT if you're going to sink that kind of $$$.

The stats according to Car & Driver are impressive for a i4 Turbo: http://blog.caranddriver.com/perform...tang-ecoboost/

310 HP and 320FTlb of torque, 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and 0-130 in 31.0 seconds.

Odd, last I checked Ford was not renting EB's or GT's.. unless it was a premium rental... $$$$$ (like the old Hertz Shelby 350's).

I haven't test driven one yet, but my neighbor is a Ford sales guy and he said they are very impressive. I'll try one in a few weeks to see how I like it. I'm contemplating an EB w/ Premium Package or Performance Package as a daily driver. But yes, once you add those two packs, you've overlapped into GT pricing. And gas mileage isn't much better on the EB if you're hammering the gas (as you should in a Mustang)

The passenger airbag inflator recall for 2009-2011 Fit is on Honda website now. Honda states "HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED."
Not sure if they will gave us free loaner.
Here it is....

NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 16V-346
MFR CAMPAIGN ID: KA6
CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION: Passenger Airbag Inflator
RECALL DATE: 05/23/2016
RECALL STATUS: Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available.
SUMMARY:
AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO., INC. (HONDA) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2011 HONDA CR-V, 2010-2011 HONDA FCX CLARITY, 2009-2011 HONDA FIT, 2010-2011 HONDA INSIGHT, AND 2009-2011 HONDA PILOT VEHICLES. ACCORDING TO THE EQUIPMENT DEFECT NOTIFICATIONS (16E-042 AND 16E-043) FILED BY TAKATA, THE PROPELLANT WAFERS IN SOME OF THE SUBJECT INFLATORS MAY DEGRADE OVER TIME, WHICH COULD LEAD TO OVER-AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG IS ACTIVATED. OVERLY AGGRESSIVE COMBUSTION CREATES EXCESSIVE INTERNAL PRESSURE WHEN THE INFLATOR IS ACTIVATED, WHICH MAY CAUSE THE INFLATOR BODY TO RUPTURE. HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED.

SAFETY RISK:
IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.

REMEDY:
THE REMEDY PARTS NEEDED TO CONDUCT PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALLS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN LATE SUMMER/FALL OF 2016. HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS IN AN INITIAL LETTER WITH A SECOND LETTER BEING MAILED WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-888-234-2138. HONDA'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS KA6.
