Exclamation EPS: Torque Sensor Coil Malfunction? Anyone?

Hey Guys,

Currently I am having problem with my Honda Jazz 2010. EPS (electronic power steering) light comes on and steering becomes heavy.
When I check using the scanner, it says "Torque sensor coil malfunction" fault code 51-5. So I reset the EPS and the EPS warning light
was gone and all working fine. But while driving, I bump a little on hallow road, the EPS light again comes on and the steering becomes heavy.
It happens Twice, so I think there is something loose? IDK.

I need your experience regarding this guys before I bring it to mechanic. Because repair here in the Philippines is very expensive, so I wanna
make sure what will be needed for the repair or parts to be replace.

Thanks you for your HELP

No experience with this. Never saw it mentioned here on the forum. Did you search this form for possible pertinent info?

I already fix this issue. I replace the gearbox assembly(rack end pinion). But the main reason of the
malfunction is the torque sensor but you cant buy only the torque sensor here in the Philippines that
is why I bought it as assembly. Honda jazz ge and honda city (transformer) have same rack end pinion

Thanks for sharing your experience kabayan. How much did the new Rack & Pinion cost?

Just a reminder:

We pinoys have a different albeit weird way of calling generations of cars. (Ipis, Transformer, Batman, etc)

Since this is a US forum, they call it here by Body Code (GD, GE, GK) and Year Model. (2003-2008, 2009-2013, etc)

Welcome Kabayan! In Honda Casa, Rack and Pinion or Gear box assy is around Php 68,000. It will cost you around Php 70,000 including labor. Wheel and camber alignment is not yet included. If you buy a surplus in Banawe, it will cost you around Php 38,000 all in (Rack&Pinion,Alignment, Labor) with 3 months warranty.
