Trouble connecting steering wheel controls and ASWC-1 / Sony XAV-AX1000
Hello all,
Vehicle: 2013 Honda Fit Sport - without navigation.
I have recently installed my Sony XAV-AX1000 with a AWSC-1. I purchased everything from crutchfield and paid for an already connected ready harness.
As far as I can tell the new head unit is working perfectly except for steering wheel controls.
As far as I know i didn't have to make any additional wire connections for the head unit and ASWC-1 to get the head unit to work.
What I have done is connect the red/grey from the ASWC-1 to the PINK wire from the factory radio harness in the car. To be honest, im not sure what this even does?
When I start up the car and the ASWC-1 boots up, following the light sequences and this is what I am getting - 7 greens then 4 reds. then red-green alternating.
I know the 4 reds means the ASWC-1 is detecting the sony head unit. Great.
the 7 greens i believe means it's not detecting the vehicle.
I cant find to seem a reliable radio harness diagram, if you have one please send it to me!
I have not checked whether or not the firmware on the ASWC-1 needs to be updated.
from this post here i have followed the original poster's instructions. but further down, commenters have mentioned cutting the white wire and grounding it (#5 - someone says this pin was empty) and connecting it to ground... i looked there is a white wire on the factory radio side. but its rather short, not sure how to ground it.
Anyone have an idea what I need to do next to get the steering wheel controls working?
i can provide pictures if needed, if the state of my wiring.
Thanks.

I figured it all out.
This post here is correct.
I had to connect the white (with silver dots) wire (i believe #5) to ground. Someone said it had to be connected to ground on its own, so i did that.
You're probably wondering, how did I connect #5 if there is no pin connecting to #5 on the harness.. well, what i did was a found a paper clip and used that as a "new" pin.
Then from the paperclip I crimped it to a wire that was then crimped to a ring terminal that was attached to a screw which was screwed into ground.
I know it sounds ghetto, but i wanted to avoid cutting/splicing any wires on the factory wire side. and there was no downside to at least trying.
let me know if you have any questions. Sorry I didnt take any pictures.
