K&N Cabin Filter
Part# VF2033

Installed this yesterday. Was curious if it would increase airflow. I think I notice a slight increase, but its probably all in my head. Just like one thinks they notice an increase in horsepower adding a cold air intake to a car like ours. I know i can buy like 8 regular filters for the same price. I like to change mine every 6 months or so, and wanted something a little more robust and nicer...for idk what reason. Anyways, it fits perfect. No weird smells or anything.

New Lug Nuts and Fog Lights

Installed short open ended lug nuts and rotated my tires. Not a big fan of the long tuner style nuts. I think they take away from the wheel design.

went back to clear fog lights, got tired of the yellow... Plus I didn't realize until getting close up on the old ones there's a yellow film on the inside of the lens which was starting to get kind of warped from heat. New ones are eBay Civic again, just like the yellow ones. Glad I discovered these work cuz I'd rather buy several cheap ones and keep them fresh looking, considering they're on the front of the car getting chipped up from driving.

Previous Long Gorilla "Tuner" nuts

Current Short open ended steel nuts

Clear fogs, short nuts and a bath

Replaced AFE Intake Filter

Damaged the filter probably almost a year ago by forgetting I had a plastic bag on it and starting the motor after washing the engine bay. Oops. I guess i still should have cleaned the filter, but i planned on replacing it soon after. Instead i just rotated it to hide the damage. Well, i finally replaced it and went back to the polished finish on the intake tube and silver braided hose. Also took the opportunity to clean the Maf and throttle body with CRC spray.

The sound is definitely smoother, louder and more pronounced on Vtec. I guess i didnt think having a dirty and deformed filter would make much of a difference..

New Replica "J's Racing" Grill

Kind of on the fence with this one. All I know is I hate cleaning the holes in the stock grill. if this one doesn't work out I might try hacking up the "sport grill".

Got this from someone local. Its made for a JDM bumper, and had no mounting holes, so it Took a decent amount of cutting to get to fit. to my surprise, considering the JDM bumper is so much shorter than the USDM version, will be almost completely flush when done. Was even able to get it to fit in the notch of the radiator plate like the original grill does (with much cutting/test fitting), as well as use all of the upper OEM fasteners. Still a bit more tweaking.

Did this today. Now just needs sand and buff after it hardens. Been thinking about painting the mirrors for at least a year.

And got these after waiting 11 weeks. Yay .

Grill, mirrors, BC racing coilovers, moog endlinks, Honda r/l lower control arms, cusco lower brace installed.

Mirrors and grill still need sanding. Grill need double sided tape for corners to sit flush. front coilovers need to be raised half inch. Currently 2.5" rear drop, 3" front. Still need to reinstall spc camber bolts and get alignment. Also playing with damping settings. Currently at 25 out of 30 all 4 corners. Ride is excellent aside from front minor tire scrub on turns and dips, but should be remedied with camber and raising front end a bit. Freeway speeds feel way more stable. Corners damn near flat. This is exactly the feel i wanted.

Finally received the seat covers. Will be cleaning the seats first...letting dry and installing them.

Sneak peek repost...

Your Fit looks awesome!! Mine is red also so I'm interested in all your mods. The color-matched grille is a real improvement over the factory one. I would love to get some of the BC coil-overs and improve the ride quality and handling but my budget is pretty tight. Did you get the Swift springs or use what comes with them? Pillowball mount upgrade? Great job!

Thanks!
Yea, i never was a fan of the original grill. It does fit perfect all by itself tho..lol.

I got the bc springs...but "upgraded" from 5k front/ 3k rear springs to 7kf/ 6k/r. Keep in mind if you do the Swift spring upgrade I believe it's only the fronts they swap.

No pillowballs...ud have to get tcs, cusco, etc., they just come with machined upper spring seat...and u have to reuse (or buy new like i did) the oem rubber upper mounts. My old mounts didnt look bad..but i wanted them new since i changed out the LCAs and endlinks too.

Stay grinding man.
i worked thru the whole pandemic, the first half i barely got thru..but was able to proactively change my circumstances.

Adjusted BC racing coilovers / Install Clazzio seat covers

Coilovers
Had lots of scrubbing at 3" front drop. Raised up to 2.5" drop to match rears height. for anyone wondering the front struts have 1.5 inches of travel with the recommended ~5mm of preload on the spring. there is 3 inches of total stroke, but half of that gets compressed with the car on the ground. havnt measured the rear shock yet. i removed the rear collars to achieve the 2.5, the collars account for .5 inch. the threaded perch accounts for .75 inches..but cannot be removed safely. running only the short springs will probably result in one loosing the springs on a rear hop. i have the rear shocks shortened all the way and they match the length of the spring/perch/no collar combo with about 5mm of preload.

with the front raised i havnt heard the front scrub. ill know for sure on my commute to work this week. waiting on new OE front strut nuts/washers...then ill pop in the camber bolts and get alignment.

Seats
This weekend i also pulled out all the seats and cleaned them with a Hoover Spotless portable carpet cleaner. though it did a decent job of cleaning the seats, along with a brush attachment for my drill...the Hoover leaks like hell, so i cannot recommend it. After seats dried i installed the Clazzios. Glad i took the seats out, as i felt like i was able to get a much better fit than trying to do them still attached to the car. its the equivalent of installing coilovers or spark plugs with the cowl installed. It still is a lot of brute force wrestling though. now that they are installed, ill let them finish taking shape to the seat and tweak them a bit more in a couple weeks or so..., but i luv how they look and feel.

so much better than stock

another quickie since the car got washed today..

Went on a Junkyard trip for a passenger visor (mines droopy). Visor on car was as bad as mine so i left it. Came back with some other things. Clutch pedal, master cylinder/ lines/etc, brake pedal, 2004 odyssey domelight/homelink/sunglass holder. Let the hording for a bad decision begin!

Point of no return , to be continued...

2nd Gen Honda Odyssey Map Light Install

Wow. another project that i thought was going to be quick and simple that turned complicated.

thankfully i was able to find a Fit in the junkyard when i got this piece to test it out. i originally got a map light from at 2006 odyssey that included the gps Mic, as i saw in another thread, where the person was able to fit into a GD. i guess the roof has more space because it wasnt going to work on the Ge, as it protruded way to low on the sunglass portion. the 2004 odyssey map light was a better candidate as it came much closer to fitting. i had to remove the shell to the roofside of the sunglass holder to even get close. shout outs to the Fit in the junkyard for letting me violate its roof for testing.

it was nerve wracking as hell cutting my headliner. wish i was able to get it on the first cut, because while inching it down prevented an over cut, the process left the edge towards the rear kinda ragged. i couldnt cinch down a thin slice of the foam/fabric cleanly, so i used a portable solder iron with a knife edge to keep melting back the headliner opening. pita with foam shavings and dust all over the place. if the hole is too big the map light will have play, if it is too tight the headliner will distort and/or the sunglass holder will distort and it wont function properly.

next i needed to dremel down the map light on the offending areas. really its just 2 spots on each side. then since the rear mounting holes that were in the upper shell of the sunglass portion were not going to attach to anything on the fit, i decided to glue pieces of a plastic radio bezel on that edge, using a piece of headliner foam as a guide to ensure a snug fit. the screw holes in the front dont match up either. first i tried jb welding some nuts to the original roof bracket, but that failed since the holes need to be just off the edge of the roof bracket. i cut and made "brackets" out of another piece of radio kit adapter stuff, screwed one side into the original roof holes, and used self tapping screws to mount the new map light. the holes end up being right on the edge of the Fits roof bracket, so they need to go in at a slight angle.

the original map light grounds itself out when you install the passenger side screw, but the odyssey map light uses a wire of the pigtail. for anyone trying this mod, dont forget to cut the odysseys map light plug out of the donor! i cut mine a bit too short (need about 5 inches) so i needed to extent the pigtail wires. i installed the ground under the passenger side plastic bracket i made, using the OE map light screw, and used a metal washer sandwiched in between to ensure good contact. the Fits rearward maplight brackets need to be bent down and towards the front of the car. the positive wire got soldered to the OE wire coming out the roof. theres a second black wire on the odyssey pigtail, which i assume would tie to other dome lights.

a also needed to use the foam i cut out from the headliner as a wedge spacer (doubled up). it is approximately 4 inches from the opening (towards the rear of the car) to not only push the headliner down a bit, but also remove the dead space so there is no flexing of the headliner when pushing up to use the sunglass holder (the rear is "floating" as its only wedged to the headliner. in the back).

since the odyssey inner shell wasnt usable for clearance issues, the inside of the roof is visible when opening the sunglass holder. its not terrible looking, and dark in there, but i wanted it to look more finished. i had some leftover black speaker carpet i glued to the roof. i also painted the backside of the Homelink mount because it was slightly visible yellow plastic.

topped it off the install with reusing the LED panels i had in the Fits original map light. fortunately i still had the wedge bulb adapters to do so.

i got a few light smudges on the headliner i need to clean up, but this project is done.

comparison - Odyssey top, Fit bottom

the purple dots indicate the original shape. red dots indicate where to trim to. right side of pic is already trimmed, left side needs trimming. both passenger and driver sides need to be trimmed in the same places.

pieces of radio bezel glued to map light. this is what will hold the rear of the map light in place. only Loctite 2 part plastic bonding system glue will work. trust me. foam used as gap guide.

plastice brackets. mounting points of odyssey map light are almost perfectly aligned with the edge of the Fits roof bracket, so the screws need to go in at a slight angle. Fits rearward braces need to be bent down and towards front of car.

Homelink Buttons Functioning

speaker carpet glued to roof.

I've been planning on doing this, just didn't know which console to use as I didn't need the mic - this looks to be the best one. Where did the homelink power come from? That's the main reason I want to do this, and the sunglasses holder is a bonus.

Great job!

Power comes from same wire as the light on the Odyssey harness...which is then tied to the single wire coming from the Fits roof. Its always "on". Depending on your parking situation, u might want to tap into a switchable power source instead.

Btw, not sure if aware but if u are mostly after the homelink...and u dont want/ need the sunglass holder or to have to deal with cutting theres this how to:

I saw that one originally then sat on it... I think I want the sunglasses holder, I'm still undecided though.
