Phantom Supercharger

Yeah, I like to take a rather unorthodox route to things sometimes. I've sent email to the maker of the Phantom Supercharger and am awaiting his reply. Will keep everyone updated if info comes about as usual.

I knew I have seen this before.

one thing about these I did find disappointing is that boost pressures cannot keep up with engine demand. Look at the dyno and if you notice at 3500rpm it makes 4psi but tapers down to just over 1psi by redline. However it does add more air into the engine than stock so the power output is there and they run a stock tune on that frs.

I've been following that thread forever, and have read the whole thing, if anybody has questions feel free to ask and I can answer.

Can't imagine the Fit transmission could hold up to that massive of a torque spike though.

That and our motorcycle battery wouldn't cut it.

It runs it's own batteries though. The trans would be fine, it's never been the weak link on the Fit, the motor will pop before the trans has issues.

Someone should do it, like Myxalplyx.

There was a thread on here (FF.net) about this as well already IIRC.

I'm just awaiting his reply to my email. I already have a shop that is willing to install it. First State Motorsports

I'd be content with just 5psi of boost until we find a way to manage adding fuel to these engines (Hondata/Flashpro/Etc).

I've thought about torque as well, especially with the CVT. I'm banking on the fact that my car is 150lbs lighter than the already light stock LX weight and the 9-10lbs lighter wheel/tire combo offsetting weight fighting the torque back. And since our cars make max torque at 4600rpm, it's not like it will see 4600rpm 5-6X like the manual tranny during full throttle. The CVT will pass that point only once....then peak at 6600rpm or thereabouts the rest of the time afterwards (At full throttle). Maybe I'm just being optimistic about it all.

I suppose you could find a way to mount the batteries somewhere else, the FRS you wrap them all together to make a pack the size of a normal battery (which wouldn't fit).
Then you have to take into account the size of the alternator (is it enough to recharge the dump packs), and again, since there isn't any FI data for the 2015 yet, can the transmission and engine take boost, and can it take the instant increase in torque at low RPM? If it has an econobox transmission, maybe not. Torque steer, etc.
Because the phantom only turns on at wide open throttle, plus the instant-on nature of the beast, there is no ramp up to boost. It is fully on, or fully off. Plus side, with the puny engine we have, I'm sure it could create and hold boost longer into the RPM range than the FRS (TQ250). I'd have to see alternator specs to judge anything about recharge speed (the Fit doesn't have a very large battery, and the starter doesn't really have to work that hard to start, so I wouldn't think the alternator would be a beast).

This thread was made in October 2014, and I've been on the waitlist for this longer than that, unless someone picked up a used one from the Miata or FRS guys, there aren't any kits available for purchase.
There is 1 guy making these, at a rate of about 4 or 5 kits per month.
