Rear Brake Replacement - Mileage
Very interesting topic. I am also an original owner of a 2015 Fit too. I have yet to replace my front brake pads. I've been checking out them every few months and I'm at 91,500 miles and still at 4MM-5MM. I don't do a lot of braking and just let the car slow itself down. lol It's too bad because I brought my front brake pads replacements like 2 years ago and still haven't wore down the OEM brakes at all. I think I could go another 2 years on them, which means 10 year brakes? WOW
For my rear brake shoes. I have 3MM-4MM. Well, researching the Rears they wear down even less than the Fronts! So, I read they could be replaced once they hit less than 2MM, like 1.5MM. The shoes really aren't as important as the Front brakes as I remember reading like 70% or 75% of the braking happens at the front. So, the Rears definitely going to last longer than the front, maybe 12 or 13 years, who knows how long?

I have a 2010 Fit Sport. My brother bought the car in 2012 with 20K miles and I got it from him a few years ago with 100K and now have 117K miles. He installed front pads at 70K miles in 2015. I recently installed the third set of front pads due to a sticking driver's side caliper that prematurely ruined the outside pad. The rear drums and brake shoes are original and both measure OK according to the specs in the service manual so I see no reason to mess with them. When I rotate the tires I pull the drums, clean out brake dust, and check out shoes to keep an eye on things, but so far so good.
Almost all of my miles are on the highway and it was the same during my brother's ownership, so not a lot of braking in general and very minimal hard braking.

The rule of thumb that I was told by my friends when I was younger was that the rear drums should be replaced every second time when you do the front disks. That's really a folklore kind of thing but probably a good rule of thumb. You can take a look at the pad remaining but it is a bit of a pain.

My driving is mostly highways, sometimes from state to other states, driving hundreds and thousand of miles at a time. I have not replaced 2017 Honda Fit, LX CVT brake fluid, front discs, or the rear drums for almost 7 years. Yes you heard it right, almost 7 years. The brakes feel perfectly fine. Sometimes, I wonder what the heck is going on. I should at least change the brake fluid since moisture could have entered the system.

replaced mine at 40000 , was planning a road trip at the time . probably could have gotten another two years out of them . i guess the rears are going
to be good for 80 + at least . i usually go by how much the emergency brake grabs . i get a lot miles out of my brakes , i don't use them that much ,
i don't ride them much , got a manual , so i can coast to a red light . drives folks crazy , they pass me to get ahead then smash their brakes to avoid
the stopped cars at the light .

Wasserball - Do you check the condition of your brakes or you just drive? They definitely last a long time, especially with mostly highway driving as demonstrated by yourself and other posters, but sometimes when they're done they're done and you don't want that to happen at an inopportune time.
As I mentioned above, I had an (unknown) sticking caliper that ruined an outside pad. My braking was fine one day and then felt weird the next, with a very slight noise when braking. I pulled the front tires and found that the outside pad was essentially gone. The inside pad and both pads on the passenger side were still good, but I replaced them all and rebuilt the caliper.
As for the brake fluid, I would change it ASAP. New brake fluid is way too cheap to take a chance on reduced brake performance.

I like in a hilly area. I easily get 50+ mpg driving seventeen miles into town, but 42 mpg coming home.

Well, I ended up doing it after 2 years from the supposedly last time the dealership did it. It's really easy and took like maybe half an hour. So, I will replace it again next year. I used two small Brake Fuild bottles from Walmart brand. You could the Honda genuine Brand, but I read Brake Fuild is like the one thing that doesn't go wildly different from Name brand to non-brand. There like no real special additives that could make the fluid better. But, everyone makes their own choices. I just know, I used Walmart brand and it didn't fail on me yet and still looks good. lol
Wow, 7 years old Brake Fuild?! That's crazy long. When I used to go to the Honda Dealership, they said, replaced it at 3 years. I did it once at 2 years and another at 3 years. I don't know really know if they did it or not, but I hope they did. lol But, they sure charged me like $150 for labor that they did.

It looks like the front and rear brakes on the Fit use different size bleeder screws.
