Hey guys,
I just started working at a Honda dealer in NJ. Was at a Lexus dealer up until three weeks ago. We just got in our first 2015 Fit. We will not be marking up the prices, just selling at MSRP.
The new Fit doesn't have a high markup from invoice to msrp ( it's less than a thousand). We've been told that the reason for the small markup is that Honda hopes the Fit will sell more than the Civic at one point (five years plus from now).
MSRP pricing will probably be the case for a while. Not much to discount. At the end of the day, the Fit is an excellent value at the price.
Dealer fees are different. In NJ every dealer has a Doc fee, which is legal and technically makes sense. But we don't charge any other fees. Some other place do charge prep fees, window etch, etc. We do not. The only fees that should be on a Bill of Sale is the following.
1. Sale Price
2. State Tax
3. Motor Vehicle (Registration and Plates)
4. Tire Tax (NJ only)
5. Doc Fee
Each state can have different fees and a dealer can add their own fees (internet fee, advertising fee, etc). You only have to pay state fees and doc. Anything else you can refuse, but at the same time the dealer can refuse to sell you a car as well.
Keep in mind that if the dealer is giving you a thousand off a car, but are charging you a $500 prep fee, then you really are just getting $500 off.
Just some info for you guys.

Austin Driver posted in arrival begins that he was quoted $22,170.15 for an EX-L. So I think that would break down something like:
MSRP: $19,800
Destination: $790.00
Sales tax: $1,237.50 at .0625%
Registration and license fees: $342.65
That looks to be paying MSRP and then only the required by law fees and taxes without all the other fees such as prep and advertising that they use to make a higher profit. Does that seem correct and if so would this be a good deal?

That sounds about right to me.
It is definitely MSRP on the car, I know that much.
I didn't actually ask for the line by line pricing.
But I'm sure I'll get it soon.... still trying to decide whether to go leather or not.
As soon as I get details I'll post them up.

I am extremely happy with the car. I already have about 1,100 miles on it. 44 highway and mid 30s in the mixed urban driving.

You're impressing the dickens out of me. Those mileage results are sounding like pure heaven to my ears. Keep it up!!!

You'll be holding out for a while. That's just not realistic. Especially with demand being high for a while.

I had 115,000 miles on my '09 Sport, and used Kelly as a guide, for good condition, trade-in value. That's what I got. Let's say between 5000 and 7000.

EDIT. I stand corrected. KBB shows about $11K trade-in value based on your mileage and good condition, as a trade. Wow, mileage really makes a big difference.
Good luck!

Most of the ones I see just like it on AutoTrader are asking $13-14K, so if I can't get $11-12K on trade in, I may just try selling it myself.

I calculated the way my dealer does with KBB and they would offer 12K minus detail and new tires and maybe repairing the damage.

Nice, thanks for the info. If they don't offer much, I may try the other dealers in the area too. I have 5-6 Honda dealers to choose from. When my wife bought her Prius, the trade in value at one dealer was $2500 more than another for her old Carolla.

I bought my Fit Lx yesterday!!!!!!
1. LX
2. Los angeles
3. Msrp plus bogus additional fees
4. Msrp+tax+license
I was also wondering if anyone else has come across the pro pack. The dealer tried to tell me that it was $695 and that Honda not them puts it on every LX model. I refused to pay for it because something seemed fishy about it. I hoping someone can enlighten me, is this something the dealer puts on or is it Honda? Thanks

Completely bogus. Refuse it. There is no such thing as something Honda demands is put on every car, or else it would be part of the car and included in the MSRP. It is simply pure added profit. If there are actually any parts involved, get them at an on-line source for a tiny fraction of what the dealer is trying to charge you.
I got my EX completely stock, no add-ons (in California). Insist on this. In fact, when you first talk to the dealer, tell them that when the car you want is delivered, inspect it, clean it, gas it, and then leave it alone for pickup!
