I don't know if it's temperature or the fact I just had my first oil change but the last two tanks I've gotten 41-43 mpg (according to the car). That's pretty awesome as in colder months I was getting 37ish.

It's definitely the warmer temps. It has a huge impact on MPGs.

Got my best mileage to date, went 344.7 miles and filled up 7.557 gallons to get 45.613 MPG. No real hypermiling mods other than slightly higher tire pressure (35 PSI all around). Mostly just smart driving on my daily commute.

Sucking your tank dry repeatedly can be more of a problem. It depends on the design, modern cars fuel pumps are pretty reliable overall. The pump is lubricated and also cooled by fuel going through it, not solely by immersion. A full tank adds the weight of the fuel pushing down making the pump work less hard than an empty tank.

I've found in my 2016 EX, if I fill up when the light comes on it takes 7.5 gallons. If I fill up at the 0 range indicated it takes about 8.25 gallons. Most of my fill ups are around 9 to 9.5 gallons. The manual says the light comes on with 1.6 gallons remaining in our 10.6 gallon tank. I don't feel I'm abusing any design limits.

Definitely temperature. I've noticed the same thing.

I got my 2015 FIT LX CVT Sept 6 2015. On all my cars in the past 40 years I track my actual mileage. As of 6-17-2016 I have driven the FIT 12654 miles using 347.6 gallon of gas. This is 36.4 MPG. I drive about 80% city. Best MPG on a tank was 42.1 and worst was 32.2. The CVT works fine for me but I am a gentle driver.
As a note, I had new 1986 CRX HF. This car had a carb, not FI. The gear box was a 5 speed with gearing for economy, it think (old memory) it would do almost 70 mph in second gear!. In 68000 miles I got about 46 MPG. I think the RPMs at 60 mph was about 1500. If Honda had this manual gearbox ratios in a FIT, I would buy it. I would have got the MT on my FIT except for the higher RPMs on highway.

I bought a '91 CRX HF back in 2010. Spent a couple grand fixing it up. The best mpg I ever got was 62 but I was hypermiling at the time. Usually got in the 50's on the highway.

Then I got stupid. I had too many cars at the time and one had to go. I kept my Isuzu Impulse to play with and let the CRX go. I regretted selling it almost immediately. Worse still, a couple of years later, I saw my old CRX for sale on Craigslist. It was trashed. Sad, sad sight it was. And yes, if Honda had that tall gearbox in a Fit, I would trade in my CVT for it in a heartbeat. And I do love my CVT Fit.

Here's the original sticker:

Urban myth. I've heard that topic discussed many times. No basis in fact.

Been getting 28.5 mpg in the heavy populated city of Anaheim, CA with the AC blasting and a heavy foot.

Ton of short trips too.

Proof in the Pudd'in

I have been driving my 2015 Fit since August 2014. Returned this week from a short vacation junket from Georgia to Delaware, and was confined to a 55 mph limit from Rehoboth DE to Norfolk VA, during which I kept a solid handle on 44+ mpg. I topped out at 45 mpg for a few seconds at the bottom of the second Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel tunnel, and continued through Virginia until reaching I-95 in Emporia. Given the option, I shifted to a 65-70 mph range, and locked into 38 mpg for the following two states (remainder of Va and NC). So, with AC running, I felt confident in assigning 6 mpg to the speed increase from 55-60 to 65-70. I would like to shotgun a ride that produces the 48 mpg that some Fitfreaks have reported to various driving conditions.

We saw (reported) 48.6 mpg during a 250 mile road trip on our 2nd tank. Speeds were 30-60 mph, county roads, no freeways. 2016 LX (CVT). I find I get generally better results using Cruise than my foot and haven't noticed any downside to ECON mode. Still feels quite peppy. Maybe only the ECO light works!

Indeed, our best mpg was encountered at these moderate (ca. 60 mph) speeds. In view of this, I don't like keeping pace at 70 mph, although occasional passing at 80-85 mph is not a problem.

This is my experience also. But I just can't drive that slow on these long trips of mine. I usually keep a steady 70-75 mph on the highway. I did get 50 mpg on a short 200 mile trip. I was cruising at 59 mph the whole way.

* The display is usually a couple of mpg above reality. I'd say the actual mpg is closer to 48. Still, not bad. The highway is where this car shines.

The onboard computer is definitely more optimistic. It says I got 39mpg combined city/highway/bad traffic conditions. But in my last few fillups I calculated 36mpg. I'm impressed by those that are getting in the mid to high 40's. Not possible in city living unfortunately

That's still a pretty good combo number. When I visit my mom in the Cocoa Beach area, I can't get above 25 mpg even in Econo mode. Half the time I'm sitting at a traffic light with the a/c blasting away. This is hybrid territory and even the Fit struggles here. Fortunately 95% of my driving is on the highway.

My mom has an option on her Altima that calculates average miles per hour - which turns out to be a pathetic 14.5 MPH driving around here. So it really depends on where you're driving and like I said 39 mpg is not bad at all.

I hate sitting with the engine running. Zero MPG.

Wish we had an engine Stop-Start system in the Fit. I drove a Renault in Europe with such a system and loved it. The car was smart about when to shut off the engine and when to turn it back on. I never felt delayed by the feature.

Renault! Oh man, that brings back memories/nightmares. I bought a used 1967 Renault R10. It was the first car I bought at 19 years old. It had the push button automatic that would go in Reverse when I pushed the Drive button. Most of its short life was spent in my dad's garage being worked on by him. One positive - it did have the most comfortable seats ever created by man. I sold it after one year for $200. The guy wrote me a check for it and of course it bounced. I was a teenager - what else can I say. Ah, the memories.
