Been tracking my 2015 for a while. Recently began experimenting with ethanol-free gasoline. And, pulled off the heavy-ass (36.6 lbs. each!) 16x6 OEM alloys and went to a lightweight Kosei Racing 14x6 wheel - new combo is 23.2 lbs. each -- 14.4 lb. reduction at each corner. Looks like I'm seeing something on the order of a 2-3 mpg increase in the city and 1.5-2 mpg on the highway. Anyway - my best highway segment and in-town tanks pictured below, and a the bottom, my average for the last 13,000+ miles. I've checked the 'gauge' by measuring the fill up and dividing into miles -- and it's always been within .2-.3 of a mpg of the gauge. And the odo/speedo are almost dead nuts on compared with a GPS. FWIW....

56 miles on I-77 coming into Charlotte, NC from SC

Right at 100 miles around town in Charlotte...long weekend, so not as much stop/go traffic.

My last 13,090 miles....

Aging mom in Augusta, so lots of highway trips between Augusta and Charlotte have moved the running average up from the 33-34 mpg range into the 39 range.

Thanks - yeah, fuel mileage 'experiments' really require lots of time and attention to all the variables. I've seen highway mileage vary by 10-30% just based on 1) ambient temp, 2) traffic patterns -- that is, how often are you able to benefit from a steady stream of traffic moving slightly faster than your are and providing a bit of 'draft', and 3) whether you have a head wind or tail wind. On a 30F day without much traffic and a head wind from a weather front, sometimes the best I can do at 70 mph is 37-38 mpg. Conversely, the 51.2 mpg you see above was perfect conditions - mild ambient temps, plenty of traffic so I had some "draft" all the time AND a tail wind from a front that was blowing through. Same car (well, the lighter wheels/tires helped a bit too for the 51 mpg run) - over the same route with just the driver with the cruise on 70 mph - goes from 38 mpg to 51 mpg. So when people say 'my car gets X mpg' -- well, under what conditions? And I mean ALL the conditions......so many variables. Passengers and/or luggage? Tire pressures? How often are you stopping? Traffic? Weather? Type of fuel (ethanol free?)? Then there's the driver variable. The list goes on and on..

My fit pays for itself!

OK, so I title things dramatically, STILL I recently did my first business trip with my new Fit (EX). I drove 240 miles and it returned 38.5 mpg according to the trip computer. My fill calculations say 37.4. Either way that's not bad. I just posted my expense report for mileage and they age giving me $106 for my vehicle use. I put in less than $18 in gas!! I'm ready to go again! A couple trips a month and those payments will disappear.

So far I've only put 840 miles on my new baby, but the average since I got it is 36.4 mpg. I think I can live with that.

Similar thing happened a few months back. I had a long trip for work. They would either pay for a rental or mileage. I opted to drive and they cut me a check for $400 just for the mileage. It'll pay for a new set of tires I'll need in a little while.

My last vehicle was getting 17 mpg, the fit has been consistently getting 40+ mpg.

No pic today - but I've left the "A" trip odo unchecked for the last 14,xxx miles -- 39.3 mpg over that time period. 156 miles from Augusta to Charlotte yesterday in perfect cruising conditions -- 47.1 mpg.

I added an additional 1" of flexible 'air dam' to the rubber piece under the front of the car. I'm going to experiment here more -- using the brush-type door sealers attached to the factory lip - run them almost all the way down to the pavement and see what happens. Last 120 miles of my trip home from Augusta yesterday, and my current cumulative mileage at about 15,031 miles.

Anecdotal information only. Since buying the car in Sept. 2016, I have racked up all of 1,125 miles. No highway driving; mostly suburban and city.
Best: 31 mpg
Worst: 28 mpg
I calculated these manually by the old mileage/gas fill equation.
The on board mpg calculator consistently reads at least two mpg higher than what I calculate manually.

I've about concluded that the variation in tire sizes amongst the models has some impact on how 'accurate' (or precise) the on board computer is. The 15" OEM combo is slightly shorter than the 16" OEM combo. And my 14" combo is slightly taller than the 16" OEMs. Since I put the 14's on -- my speedo is dead nuts with phone GPS on both speed and distance. And my calculated MPG's haven't varied by more than .4 mpg with the on board number. Go figure.

Today I made the NASCAR drafting instructors blush. The end of bike week in Daytona provided this Super Sugar Daddy for my last 40 or miles into Charlotte on I-77N. Based on diesel exhaust of the tractor -- mega HP -- he set his cruise on 68 mph and never varied up hill or down. PERFECT. And perfect weather conditions. I was never any closer 7-8 car lengths behind him. Edit - ethanol free tank of fuel too.

I'm going to experiment with these -- Weather Brush Seals | Precision Brush -- mounted to the lip spoiler under the front of the car. These can be run almost down to the pavement and will simply bend out of way when they come in contact. The Sweeper.

You're not close enough. I want to see that current mpg indicator wrapped all the way down to the "F" in the gauge.

LOL - more to be had for sure, but old-man safety protocols couldn't be over-ridden.

That will require an electronic modification.

just had my best mileage ever. 43.8 mpg over a 125 mile highway trip, steady 55 mph, still with winter tires on. Stock 2008 MT Fit. Yay, love seeing numbers like that. I imagine when I put summers on I'll be able to improve on that. And then when I put on Sid's Short Ram I'll improve some more. Also, I have a valve lash adjustment scheduled for a month from now, so that should improve things too.

2017 LX with CVT. Tanked up with cheapo 87 octane gas from walmart, $2.089/gallon. Took a test drive on the Gulf I-45 freeway to Galveston Island and back, RT 65 miles including about 6 miles drive in town, no passenger and no load, very slight cross wind, AC on, fan position 1. Cruise set at 60 mph in slow lane, everyone passed me. I got 46+ mpg.

The Honda mpg algorithm is different from the BMW. Even if I start off driving after a reset, the mpg calculates from 0 calculates up. It won't reach its steady state until after driving a few miles. The BMW algorithm is just the opposite. It starts off around 99 mpg and work its way down to steady state.
