For science i should test, but then i'd be breaking my superstitious 93 only diet for the car.
I cannot spread the mileage between oil changes, only the last 3 fill ups. I use wthe Kroger's is pumping, supposedly 87, 30 to 50 cents/gallon off. I'll check tomorrow but the last 3 round trips from Madison to Murfreesboro, I averaged over 41 mpg, Interstate and suburban. With a passenger and some door prizes for ALA meeting weight of about 500 lbs. over curb. AC the whole way.
Your superstition is costing you about 5 cents per gallon, but that's your choice.
ill run another tank or 2 with 87. I wanna see if the recently installed ktuner (stage 1 map) has any impact on my current mpg. once thats all settled down .... i'll take a leap to 91 and see what happens
I have a fun test idea ..... on my last 333+ mile journey to las vegas, i pulled off 42 mpg going up, and 41 mpg going back home. maybe I can do the same test .... this time running 91 oct.
my next trip should be within the next week or 2.... i'll report back with my results!
I drove from San Diego to the city of Monrovia to pick up some car parts from a fellow member on here. I'm pleased to report that, being on a ktune stage 1 map (87 oct) does not appear to have negative effects on mpg. I was able to pull off 43.5 mpg over 135 miles

as always, will report back in a week or so with my impressions
Maybe you need to take personal responsibility for this and admit you've been eating too many hot dogs and chocolate chip cookies lately. A nice summer diet will help get that mileage right back to where it ought to be.
no way, i love hot dogs too much to give em up. id rather lose the spare tire.... lol
on the road trip back home from las vegas over the weekend... I was able to get 42 mpg. this beats my previous numbers of 41 mpg, from about 2 wks ago... and this time around the car is ktuned .... id call that a WIN!

what was your speed on highway? I run 75-80mph 3.5-4k rpm
I keep an eye on my scangauge device, i try to keep the live mpg reading at 40+ and my gph at 1.0 or below. if its down hill, I can easily do 90 mph and not hurt my mpg. on hill climbs, Id have to dial it back to 60-70 mph to keep the mpg #'s from tanking
to answer your question, on the drive to vegas I was doing mostly 75 mph. on normal roads here on socal, I usually keep it at/around 65 mph
42.5 mpg last week, Las Vegas to Albuquerque. I noticed a pretty cool little trick about driving around town. Although it feels gutless, you can cruise the MT fit in 6th gear at or around 40mph. This results in getting 50ish mpg around town. WOOT! Of course as always, YMMV....
Initially I found it puzzling that 5-th and 6-th gears ratios are so close...
Where I live roads are never really flat and it takes effort to keep the car moving while keeping revs low.
So I gave up and keep it over 3k rpm at minimum at all times.
Only way this engine feels alive.
My average (all city driving) has been ~33mpg so far (2 months of ownership) so not bad.
I cycle between 87 and 91 octane every other fillup.
And I open her up daily, the car sees redline multiple times a day.
Still indulging the car in a diet of nothing but 93. this current cycle i've focused less on mpg and more on "look it can keep up with traffic": i'm at 35.8mpg over ~2400 miles.

Reason: the usual typos
My AC doesn't affect fuel consumption to a degree that I notice. For example if I make a 200 mile trip going east, and then take the same route in the other direction returning home, the difference between the 2 trips could easily be 3 mpg less going east. 41 vs 38. Elevation is lower at the east end of the trip, by about 1200 feet. However the difference between going on the same east on mild day compared to a hot day - on the hot day i measure about the same 41 mpg. Of course there are other factors like wind, and how many times I pull over to rest, amount of traffic which I don't usually take note of.
Achieve this numbers making a trip from my inlaws to my house... this is with an RV6 and Tanabe Medallion axle back, but still not tuned.....to the number crunching saavy peeps here..... what do you think?
