Rear wheel well question
i can always put them back in. it is seriously a simple remove/reinstall.
my bumper to bumper warranty will be gone in 6-7 months and drivetrain a year after that. i do not want the car to rust prematurely while waiting/hoping honda comes out with a fix.
i traded in a 2012' kia rio because the rear end rotted out prematurely, and i am hoping the fit fares better.

never called the number and setup a case without dealer involvement. does it involve bringing the car to the dealer? if so, i am out. i hate dealers, as a majority of interactions do not go well.

American Honda needs to realize how BIG this problem is.

Call American Honda and let them know!
Clearly members have different approaches with some conflict between report and modify extremes. Representative arguments from both rodney and MyFreakFit seem valid with supporting arguments and appropriate personal emotional emphasis. [you may or may not notice slight moderation applied to this thread in terms of unnecessary baggage distracting from facts, opinions and disucssion]
Please keep any conflict on topic and please don't assume not agreeing on a specific approach requires ridicule or resolution. Honda will get enough feedback- and that is certainly important. Action prior to Honda's response does pose some level of risk- but a decent dealership is going to understand taking preventative action. And nobody here can assure any action will come from Honda on this- certainly not to impact the current salt. Additionally, members are not required to like or even get along with dealerships- no magic wand for that one.
Great discussion in general. Lots of differing perspectives being presented. This is not a clear cut issue with only one right answer and each FitFreak will need to decide what action, if any, to take. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

While you're at it, let the aftermarket companies know there's a demand for this. I bet a company like rugged liners could dupe these in plastic form pretty easily.
Wheel Well Liners « Rugged Liner
Wheel Well Liners « Rugged Liner
Many of them don't even realize this problem exists even though 2015 Fit sales started many months ago.
appointment
local Honda dealer service dept. reported to my case number that my wheel well liners are bad and also the FITS on the car lot with the same problem. So they know about mine and also the Fits on the lot with same. Corporate Honda is to follow up with me Wednesday? So that means wait for service bulletin, most likely. Because they will fix 2016's for sure, so we have to play the wait game. I will report what Betty at corporate says to me for sure on Wednesday jan 21st 15.
I thought that was what American Honda was playing all along?!
Yes, let us know!

i had my dealer replace mine, and while they were i checked the other ex they had, every one including the replacements had some variation of this. my new set is a lot better.
however, ill remove mine this spring. every gm and ford truck and car has a similar set up (at least before this latest generation of bodies) and every one starts to rot in the same place. granted it takes a while...even in wisconsin. but yes. terrible design. its only there for road noise, which can be better achieved with roll/spray on application. unfortunately that probably leads into a warranty/paint issue.

I just checked both sides on my EX-L and noticed the fabric gap that you all are experiencing. I'll be calling Honda American on Monday. I would take it to the dealer this weekend, but I'm afraid they're just going to say we haven't seen this and make me wait for word to come down from Honda HQ.

Honda will tell you to take it to your dealer. Then the dealer will say they have no fix until Honda comes up with one. But, yes, please call Honda and complain about it,
I doubt very much that another manufacturer would step in and spend money on design and tooling to supply a replacement product when Honda could yet acknowledge the problem and suddenly provide a solution leaving the third party manufacturer with useless tooling and inventory to write off.
Local dealer reported to corporate Honda that it is indeed a problem with the design on my car and other fits on their lot.
I talked to Betty on Jan. 21st and told her I still want a fix and to not close my ticket with corporate.
My Ticket with Betty at corporate was updated with..........
It's a design issue flaw, waiting response from engineering/Betty.
So we will have to see what is done. I will again keep everyone posted.

Design issue - that was exaclty what I thought because way too many vehicles are affected (90+%, my guess) and Honda has been continually producing 2015 Fit like that for almost a year now knowing the issue.
We consumers must share what we know and continue to push American Honda to provide a fix. Otherwise they will not do anything about it.

I got EX CVT yesterday with 58XXX VIN. Only rear wheel wells have this lining. There is nothing in front wheel wells. Looks like, Honda designed this way. They used a hinge to attach this lining to underside of rear wheel well. Lining is going to sit flush instead of snug fit when attached with some adhesive.
