Our wheelwells have been packed to the point of frozen slush dragging on the tire tread and it's held up so far (knocking on formica-covered, pressed-sawdust desk). Here's hoping it continues and that Honda steps up to the plate for all those with a problem.

Can you post photos?

I'm sure American Honda has been closely following this thread, and they are the one who really needs to see that.

Why don't they take a proactive action and do something about it before things get worse - well liner dragging on the tire?

Pics from my EX CVT.
It is not visible from outside in normal viewing angle.

It is attached to wheel well with two hinges. This lining stays in a suspended position. Honda needs to add few more hinges or extend fender little more inside such that they can tuck this lining inside.

well, most of us because ice is undriveable but in TX when I lived there they cancelled school when somebody somewhere saw a tiny patch of ice somewhere. maybe even in the next county. sometimes we did it just to close the school.
that was before the herd of attorneys looking for business. now if your breath clouds ...

Canadian Fit Liner Dropping Out

I bought my EX in Nov and inspected the wheel wells as I knew about the problem and they were fine.
Last week I noticed one hanging down just like the pictures here and I could get my fingers into the gap.
The dealer had no idea this was a design type of issue and has ordered new liners - so not sure how long they will last once installed ?

Hopefully they have re-engineered these "new" liners to do away with the gap, but my money's on NO. Let us know how they look once installed.

New felt liner installed

Looks like they have fitted exactly the same part as was there initially. The dealer had not seen any cases of this problem but showed him the posts on here to inform him there was a known problem. Not sure what pictures to take, could someone please let me know where to take them from and what we are looking for.

Please call Honda Corporate Customer Service and let them know you have been to the dealer for this problem but with no solution. It is a known problem to Honda Corporate. If they get enough complaints maybe they will do something. You are looking for a gap between the felt liner the the fender lip at the top of the wheel well. If the dealer checks other EX models on his lot, chances are he will see the same problem.

Why didn't they just undercoat the rear wheel wells like they've done on their cars for the last 50 years? I may pull these cheap saggy pieces of crap out in the spring and apply a few nice thick coats of rubberized undercoating. This will prevent any road debris, salt, dirt, mud etc. from collecting under the liner and ultimately corroding the wheel well. Why I'm having to reengineer my new Honda is beyond me. Along with all the other complaints and problems I've read on this message board, it seems like Honda has really dropped the ball with this car.

I've been following this thread closely but I'm a little confused about something. Is the liner supposed to be attached? For those who have no problem with this liner, is it snugly attached to the fender or something?

I had a peek at mine a couple times. Nothing can be seen from the outside but I can definitely fit my fingers between the liner and fender so is this the problem? I'm concerned because I live in Canada where there is snow 10 months out of the year and I don't want it to become an issue... since I brought my car home it hasn't snowed at all but obviously I'm concerned about this.

I'll try and check it out and take pics with a flashlight soon but in the meantime I'm just wondering what it's SUPPOSED to look like under there.

I supposer there shouldn't be any gap between the liner edge and the fender so that water, snow, debris can't go in between.
Mine has a gap so I can't show you pics of how good one would look...

Repaired wheel arch fell out again

3 days after they fixed it, it fell out as has the other side. The service manager told me he wasn't surprised when I called them yesterday as he said he had tried double sided sticky tape - though he didn't tell me this when it was at the dealership.
Will call Honda Canada and let them know this is happening.

lol he used double sided tape? that has to be a joke. i would file a complaint. he should have used zip ties instead. it has a better chance to last longer so u don't notice the lack of effort they did.

Took it to the dealer yesterday for a couple of other (minor) issues and mentioned it. Service advisor was excellent - very understanding and totally sympathetic but pretty much said they're supposed to be like that (!) and that there's no real fix for it because it's not technically a problem! Mine have a clear gap and one side looks like it has been pinched. I'll follow suit here and report it to Honda Canada today.

I'll admit my ignorance on car mechanics.... But, why are the liners there? The cars, not Hondas, I've owned have not had anything like that.

That's been my question all along. Why put FELT liners in a wheel well, that will only trap and hold water and collapse when packed with snow and ice? As an engineer by trade, this makes no sense to me.

Seems that Honda isn't the only car maker going this route. I looked at my landlord's new Nissan Altima last night, and it has the same felt liners in the rear wheel wells. Only the Nissan liners are well tucked in and fit snugly against the fender.

I'm following this closely, as my Fit has the same issue with loose, poor fitting liners.

I called Honda Canada today and logged a complaint about this as the dealership I went to yesterday said there wasn't anything they could do. Rep just said it's not a known issue and it's between me and the dealer to see if they could maybe fix it for me or fasten it somehow. She said she had never heard of this issue before. I let her know that there are a bunch of people reporting the same issue on the Internet and other Fits I've looked at have the same problem.

Pretty much the same standard stuff everyone else here has been told. Glad I at least reported it because the more people who do, the more likely it is Honda will devise a fix for it (hopefully)!
