*update*

silicone spray did not work, it still froze. i cleaned it up again, and used dupont teflon spray and so far so good.

yeah, this is a great idea because i, A) carry one of those around and B) there is a outlet near the gas pumps...

again, if it happens one more time, i am removing the rubber leash.

I wonder if the extra bottle of "de-icing" windshield fluid we carry in the back of the car, could not solve the problem by pouring a little on the gas cap, at the station?

They do make cordless hairdryers. Still this is crazy to go through stuff like this getting the darn gas cap off.

Hmmmmmm .......

Have you tried WD-40? The WD stands for "Water Displacement". It's worth a shot.
