What did you do to your GK Fit today?
#3921
Changed the oil on my GK5 after a spirited highway drive.
The oil had 1300kms (or 835 miles on it). The oil change reminder indicated 90% remaining.
Since my driving habits fit into the "severe service" category, I followed it's recommendation of changing the oil every 6 months (with the oil and filter replaced every 12 months).
The valves were wallnut blasted and the fuel injector recall was performed just before I bought the car. The VTC actuator was also replaced shortly after I took ownership while under warranty.
With this oil change interval combined with 91 fuel and a thicker oil, I'm very interested to see if I ever have carbon issues or any other valvetrain issues as others have experienced on this forum.
Stay tuned!

What is the milage of Fit!
CVT or Manual (suspect manual for spirited driving)
What weight oil you use in what temp range outside?
Just curious so I can learn more!
Thanks Fellow Fit BMW guy!

6 speed manual.
When I purchased my Fit, I ran out and bought 3 5liter jugs of 0w20 thinking that I was doing it a favor by following the owners manual.
After I changed the oil and the summer temps started increasing (especially with a/c running), I noticed what sounded like bottom end rattle when lifting off the clutch at low RPM's - I don't care for needlessly revving when leaving intersections. The first time I heard it, I went home and dumped it and replaced it with a mix of 50/50 0w20 and 15w40 (so my weight is somewhere around 7-10w30). After the first change, the engine stopped making that unnerving noise, and fuel economy seems unaffected. Once I deplete the stock of 0w20, I'm just going to run a steady diet of 10w30
This matches to the owners manual for the Honda Fit in India, since they don't have to adhere to CAFE regulations for fuel economy.

The ambient climate is -5 to 30C year round (23F to 86F) with the car garaged year round.
Not sure what you hope to "learn" from what I'm doing.
I'm just doing this based on my observations on this site as well as research on motor oil and different weights.

The springs lowered the car about an inch, which was perfect as I'm a family man and wanted a better look, better handling, and to retain the ride comfort.

I bought those springs and installed with stock shocks in place.
Great ride, only a little stiffer and handles great now.
Bouncey is gone.
Great for family car and can still spirit drive it.
Lowered car about 1 inch or so, no rubbing and not scraping ground except on steep driveway aprons and then only a tiny bit if I drive too fast.
Would highly recommend for those who do not want a hard ride but want more control!

Probably, but pretty expensive and Honda installs them which is costly.
If you can do it yourself, it is way cheaper.
Could probably buy HFP from Honda, but anything from dealership in my opinion is excessively expense.

I was talking with a master tech a few days ago about this issue on 15-20 CR-Vs with the K24W engine. He said that the timing chain tensioner can also be a problem. I assume this is due to oil dilution, so it could be the same case on our L15B1s.
