Plastics warp from heat and cold and sun and.....

I suspect even the perfect ones won't be after a couple years.

Guess you take your fit like you take your wife (For better or worse) lol. They are a great little car and should easily go 200 k or 10 years with minimal trouble.

I never knew what you guys were talking about with this dashboard alignment problem until I saw these, and that really is not acceptable.

One question I have is what is that square grill looking thing on the dash next to the windshield? It looks like it could be a small speaker, but I'm guessing not.

The small square piece next to the windshield is the tweeter for the audio system. The larger opening with the coarse grille located further away is a defroster vent for the side window.

Isn't the woofer down in the door panel? That's where both the tweeter and woofer is on the JDM models.

and yeah, the defroster is the same.

Anyway, I was thinking that might be a reason for the warpage. Something that wasn't on the original design, but put in there for the American market. I dunno, but that gap is totally unacceptable on a Japanese car. Maybe on a Lada, but not on a Honda.

If it helps any the CRX had a horrid interior fit and finish, dash rattles, loose bits falling off, seats seldom lasted to 100K.. Honda has a high average but they have definitely screwed the pooch numerous times.. (Passport,,, cough,,, Isuzu)

I'm pretty sure the tweeters are in the dashboard on the NA spec cars.

My 2007 has the tweeter and the main in the doors. FWIW.....
I'm assuming this varies by year?

Well. I don't know what to do. I've had the vent trim panel on and off the car a half dozen times to try to position it better, inserted a 1/8 inch spacer under the left end of the dashboard (as shown above), and I still can't improve the fit of the dashboard. No matter what I do, there's still a 1/8 inch gap all around the "A" pillar trim at the base where it meets the dashboard and the vent trim panel. Nothing short of a "A" pillar trim piece larger all around is going to fix this I'm afraid.

I'm at a loss to explain this. At this point, I'm leaning toward it being a case of the "A" pillar trim being shrunken or undersized. Not sure why, maybe a "short shot" or insufficient pressure or wrong temperature of the equipment when molding may have resulted in a shrunken or malformed part (yes, I work in industry as a tool and die designer). Maybe a whole batch of trim pieces were molded wrong. I'm about ready to buy another "A" pillar trim and try that.
