When you feel the need to accelerate as fast as possible. Doesn't matter if you are at a full stop or on the highway trying to pass another vehicle.

It doesn't matter what rpm. If you feel the need to accelerate faster and your rpm is not maxed out, let off the gas pedal and hit the gas pedal again. Quickly! Try not to over-think it. You floor it, you say to yourself 'this isn't fast enough', let off the gas and floor it again. The rpm needle will jump up higher rpm rather than waiting for it to get there if you just simply floored the gas pedal. Still not fast enough? Quickly let off the gas pedal and do it again. Sounds like work? Maybe! It'll become 2nd nature after a while. It's not necessary though but if you want to accelerate faster, quicker, than it helps.

You save gas while not doing it. You kick as* when you do. You have the best of both worlds. I don't have a sport mode. I simply drive it in 'D' all the time and do this trick.
