Not to start a flame war but in part the reason the Versa Note is killing them is they are cheaper to buy. In terms of a manual the only Note you can get with a manual is the stripper version so I doubt the lack of manual Fits is playing into that.

Ever sat in a Note? I have and talk about cheap and nasty. Fit and finish is well below the Fit and from what I've heard Nissan has had so many issues with the CVT they had to extend the warranty. I'd rather have a 09 fit with 100k on the clock than a new Note or hell I'd sooner kept my 01 Civic with 194000 on it than a new Note

Just my 2 Yen.

Here in Canada a manual is available on all but one trim levels of the Versa Note. The Note is only a little cheaper than the 2016 Fit. Or is it that the Honda offers no discounts at all.

I have rented 2014/2015 Nissan Versa Notes often. Though they do not handle as well as the Fit and their rear hatch section is not as good as the Fit, they offer manual and can deliver one to you. The Versa Note is down 21hp vs the Fit. As for aesthetics, there is a lot of hard plastic in the Versa Note, but the Fit is nothing to brag about as well.

As with the 2016 Fit, I did not like the Versa Note's CVT. I would buy neither.

Manual vs CVT

CVT at 80 mph = 2600 rpm
6M at 80 mph = 3900 rpm
50 % higher engine speed but not unpleasant. Mine is an LX, I found a new left over 2015 in 7/16. Dealers on east coast have allocations for 2017 6M, not so on west coast. I flew 2300 miles to get mine, drove it that far back home, wish 6th gear was taller

2015 cvt ex-l

I grew up with manuals until a few years when the traffics in SF Bay Area gotten worse. They had caused my left leg worn out from pressing and depressing the clutch, more than 75% I had to hold the clutch in. Decided to get CVT, It sure helped a lot in those traffics.

First time, I tried CVT in the Sierra Mountains, it sure love those tiny hills... Also, tried S mode, it sure helped more on the downhills using the paddles.

Engine speed @80MPH is a moot point here, as you can't go that fast for any distance if you want to keep your driver's license.

Maybe that explains why the west coast isn't getting any manuals. You people out west drive too damn fast.

I do miss the old days, when you could order different final (axle) ratios depending on your driving conditions. Of course, that was more necessary back when most cars were three-speed manuals or two speed autos.

Speed limit in New Mexico was 75mph. Want to know rpm at 90, 100, and 110mph?

Hi TaubBaer,

You don't need to use S mode to use the paddles, when downhill in D, just downshift and it will keep the selected gear unless RPMs get out of range or you press the gas slightly.
I use the paddles in D all the time while driving, it saves brakes a lot.
And if you're going to need to accelerate you can downshift and bring revs up to get a quick response, when cruising speed is reached it returns to auto again.
Try it when not in traffic, after you learn the logic behind the manual/auto switch it's a breeze to use and a lot of fun.
Coming from a manual I constantlty the paddles in D, but using them in S where the manual mode stays is impractical most of the time.

Eesh. New Mexico's state legislature must hate the environment.

The 2017 LX has the MT option. None of the EX or EX-L's will. Drop by your Honda dealer and pick up a 2017 Fit brochure. It will tell you the different options between the models. Hope this helps

Partially true. 2017 Honda Fit | Honda

Both the LX and EX are said to be available in both transmissions. The EX-L is only available in CVT. Same as for the 2016 model year.

From honda.com 2017 Honda Fit EX available in 6MT or CVT

from honda.com, 2017 Honda Fit LX available in 6MT or CVT

2017 Honda Fit LX and EX offered in both 6MT or CVT, or so the web site says. There are no 2017 specs on the Canadian Honda site yet.

TorontoBoy is absolutely correct; there are no transmission or trim-level changes for 2017.

I've been trying to find a 2016 EX M/T since last November, and my dealership managed to get Honda to take an order on a 2017, which hit the assembly line this week!

Yes, you are correct. I was only going off the brochure I had and not the website. The EX 6-speed is rare. The majority of customers want automatics or don't know how to drive standard unfortunately. I learned how to drive on a MT. It was a little iffy at times, but totally worth it. I had a 2005 Civic Special Edition that was standard and it was one of the best, most reliable and efficient cars I've ever owned.

You have the patience of a saint. If I were you I'd be posting on the Mazda3 forum! The Nissan Versa Note has very little forum activity.

It was this time last year, end of September 2015, when I put my order in for my 2016 6MT. The dealer had told me my car was documented as "on rail", which they described as the car was built but was waiting in Mexico until the required number, or batch of Fits were ready, then they would send it by rail, north to Canada. The car arrived at my dealer 2 months later, late November 2016. My car is stamped built in September 2015.

Yeah, the EX-L comes with leather heated seats and defrost side mirrors. I was looking at one but would have had to pay transport fees since it was out of state. If I remember correctly MSRP was $21,800 or something like that. I paid $18,500 for my 2016 EX and just added heated seats for $350
