For example, we drive a lot on four lane toll roads, hour after hour at about 90 mph. The Fit is now five years old, but never a problem that I could see or hear. Engine about 4600 rpm for up to eight hours.

Where do you guys live that you can do 80-90 MPH “hour after hour”?

around here, I’d lose my license in short order.

We are in Zacatecas city in the State of Zacatecas, more of less central northern Mexico about eight driving hours north of Mexico City. I need to add that speed is related to sanity and safety. When we drive to Reynosa/McAllen once a year there is very little out there which we drive through. Even the bypass of the City of Monterrey is fairly empty. Tractor trailer doubles are not that common on these four lanes, free to Saltillo.Like in Germany, there is not the fixation here by the police on obeying the law which drove me nuts in the US. If the speed makes sense they will leave you alone, but likewise there are not that many on the highways. My feeling is that like between the City of Monterrey and Reynosa on the border opposite McAllen, TX, one has to be doing over 100 mph before they will bother. The highway is expensive, well maintained, straight as an arrow, light on traffic and if you want to kill yourself, it is your responsibility.Driving south towards Mexico City is a whole different thing, much heavier traffic which demands care. I have had double trailer trucks pass me doing at least 80+ which is insane. Drive safe and be well. Mark

For cvt owners, at 70 mph shift from D to sport to simulate what the rpms are like for a 6MT at that speed ie ~50% higher rpms. Significant difference.
