I recently got a 2015 LX, does anyone feel that the biting point for the clutch is high? It feels weird compare to the other manual cars I have driven.

No hard core manual guy come to the rescue? OK I'll put in my 2 cents worth. I have a CVT, but previous Honda I had was a 5 speed. I remembered the pickup point was non existence, meaning it is so soft from floor to when the pressure plate catches. You can literally pop the clutch and there would hardly be any jerkiness.

 

Yes it is high, but well defined and consistent.

 

All the manual Honda's I have owned and driven always had high engagement points. My 86 F-150 even has a high engagement point. I like it cause you don't have to go to the floor with the pedal when shifting but I suppose it could be a pain in traffic.

 

I strongly recommend going down all the way to the floor...it's really not that much more effort. You're driving a Fit, not an air-cooled Porsche.

 

I found it medium high but also linear and not likely to lurch. Now my wife’s 2018 Subaru Forester is lower and feels like a non-linear throw. It is more of a well defined point and also way way easier to stall.

 

You know, I still over-rev once in a while, always on an aggressive launch, because of the damn clutch. Slow learner I guess.

 

 

2nd gear engagement just always feels weird. City driving with the AC on isn't ideal either.

 

It feels like the clutch on several motorcycles i've sputtered around on, i like it.

 

I've been driving mine for 3+ years and only now have gotten comfortable with doing the rolling turns in third gear. The whole gearbox setup is unlike any car I've owned before.

 

I have been driving manuals for 50 years, no 2 cars feel the same. The clutch in the Fit feels different than to '02 Ford Escort that I drove for the last 15 years. I does seem soft, but it is predictable and after about six months I have started getting use to it. Between the drive by wire and the clutch, I still have a timing issue that causes slipping on launches and some gear grinding on some 2cd/3rd quick shifts. In the "80's when I as working at a Honda dealership, Iremember being able to power shift without any issues. Well so much for progress. (still loving my Fit though)

 

I'm fine with the "bite point" of the system. Now if only the gas pedal action were a little stiffer, as well as the clutch pedal action.....but they're plenty OK enough. My biggest gripe is the damn clutch delay valve, or whatever it is called. Hate it!!! Only times I've overrevved on launch is if I have the music too loud to hear the engine....I often rely on aural feedback
