Speaker Upgrade to Improve Sound?
I appreciate the feedback. I am enjoying my Fit lately and the audio upgrades have helped quite a bit. I still find that some EQ fine tuning is needed here, and that the bass and treble from the factory radio is far too broad. The total cost of this audio upgrade was close to $600, and that sounds like alot because it is. I paid $240 including tax for installation of the amp and subwoofer. Scratches to my dash aside, they did an acceptable job. I have found that the remote for the sub needs to be a little closer to me, and am hoping that the cable has some extra length being held under the dash. The install shop called me today to say that the parts for my climate control are in. I cannot get there until next Wednesday and they had offered me this Saturday at first. I honestly thought that I could just swing in without an appointment needed, or much time for that matter. I guess that is not their opinion. I did not ask questions and took an appointment first thing Weds morning. At that time I hope to have the cable for the sub remote extended just a little bit. As I type this I can see the image of a yellow fit at the top of the page/banner LOL. I have bought and leased way too many cars over the past 32 years now, and it needs to slow down. My wife's 2010 Fit is nearing the end of our time with it, and I'm not looking forward to that day. She has stated with emphasis that she does not want to inherit my car, so I will likely have it for a while. I cannot see giving up the practical aspects of the Fit, and the closest thing would be an HRV. I feel that the price increase is more than I'm willing to pay for it. Interestingly enough, a $10 steering wheel cover from Walmart has really made me feel like the car is more enjoyable to drive lately. Such a simple thing, both cosmetic and functional, has made a real difference to me. It's a little too large and can be felt moving up or down as I grip the wheel at times, but I really like the look and feel of it. There's a small section at the top and bottom with a little bit of woodgrain peeking through the otherwise black rubbery finish. As to the exterior color, this is quite the annoyance for me at times. Sitting in the driver's seat, you can't help but see the yellow edges of ithe nside forward part of the hood. Most of the time when you drive your car, you don't see the exterior so much. That banana just keeps peeking out out at me all the time. I truly am less bothered by it now, and appreciate the extremely low cost of operation for my Fit. I spend about $20 every 2 1/2 weeks or so in fuel, and change the oil about every 10 months or so. After 3 years I have 21K miles and the car is like new for the most part. I still kick myself for getting the dealer's rustproofing and undercoating. I would never had gotten the former, but it was packaged with the latter, which I wanted. I feel as if the goop that they applied to the sheet metal is collecting bits of dirt over time. I'm afraid to try and clean it off, as it's quite thick in places and like grease you might apply to hinges and such. My next upgrade with be new mats for the front, in anticipation of winter and road salt. Weather Tech is leading the choices, but Husky is close behind. After reading another thread in the GK general forum, I have realized that I may need to step on the throttle a bit to clear out the car from my gentle driving over these past 3 years.
