In your opinion, how much has your sound deadening helped? I'm thinking of doing the doors and the trunk area int he summer.

Can't remember the bulb size. All I can remember is that it was the same type of bulb and bulb holder as my Integra ashtray.
Ayyyy! Fellow integra owner, or ex owner in my case; RIP teggy.

Let me get back to you on that. It's still a work in progress, but in short the doors, floor and heavily dampened roof (2 layers of the tiles and 1 of the closed cell foam) makes a big difference but you will still notice the engine, tires and wind noise from the mirrors more and I already have a stuffed dash. I haven't touched the hatch yet and am not that convinced that doing my trunk makes a huge difference. I also stuffed some underlayment along the backs of the rear seats which probably makes for a quick and cheap sound deadening alternative for the rear. As you know I am not using the OEM Styrofoam tray and using a heavy rubber mat for the trunk. I have 6 coats of asphalt spray under the front wheel wells that made zero difference.

I plan on completing all the doors with more coverage to the interior side of the doors, the A/B and C pillars, using Dynamat hoodliner on the hood and front fenders, doing the dash/firewall more and finishing the roof in front of the sunroof. As it stands, sitting still in traffic it's very quiet and sounds tight.. Almost like some 3 series BMW's and our family's B200. But the tire roar, engine racket and wind noise from the mirrors once the car is moving are reminders that I am still driving a economy car that's a bit quieter. I'm pretty sure that if I sit in a stock GK that it will sound like a sawmill compared to what I have now.

Closed cell foam does nothing. Dynamat/dynaliner (clv) will not soundproof at all, but will deaden all the metal. Only a layer of mass loaded vinyl on top of closed fell foam will soundproof. And it has to cover the entire floor and doors.

I'm doing my '16 EX in 2 weeks (weather permitting). I'll post pics.

Yup, that's the MAF. I bought some CRC MAF cleaner and I clean it when I do my oil change. I'm at 30% so it's due soon.

Trunk organizer part 2

This is currently how my trunk looks everyday!

So I decided to raise the trunk floor a bit. What I lose in height in the main trunk area (that I don't use that often) I gained in square area.

I glued 2 2x6 pieces of wood to raise the floor. I had to trim the "door" part of the floor both near the hinge part and near the front so that it can close properly.

Luckily for me the trunk mat is flexible and I can just can tuck in the back part at the back seats.

I do have some gap at the sides towards the back of the car which seems weird, but the current CRV does this intentionally.

I plan on attaching a metal loop some where so that I can fashion a net or use bungee cords to make the rear sides hold things down.

I'm wondering how you're sound deadening is going. I just bought a 2016 Honda Fit that I drive a lot (2k in the past month alone) and i'm looking for information. I have sound deadening from
Noico Noico
that i'm going to install, but i'd like to take it a step further while i'm at it. Did you use MLV and something else to aid in your process?

Thanks!

Did you ruin your MAF? Wouldn't it be better to squirt the CRC valve cleaner right through the PCV port on top of the intake? Maybe a tee fitting? It Bypasses all those sensors and sprays the valves directly?

What you see in the picture is the common Jute sound deadening and this is found in the early GK5's. I'm not sure what the revised GK5's have.

I would love to be able to tear apart the dash and do the firewall properly. I would love to either cover the backside of the front fender liners, or buy a seat of felt liners from the rears and install in the fronts to complete my sound deadening. I went with the 3 types of deadening on the floor : tiles, foam and mlv. Everywhere else, I went with tiles and foam. On the roof I went with double tiles and single layer of foam. If this car was to be used in auto competitions, then I would've used the best stuff : Dynamat. Otherwise I'm happy with the results and my ears and sanity are in good shape too.

Nope. Since I removed it, it wasn't part of the cleaning process.

And the engine still ran without the MAF connected? If it did I'd expect a CEL. but in your opinion, would squirting the cleaner in the PCV port of the intake manifold make more sense for this exercise? Im researching this as I plan on doing this next oil change, and then viewing with an inspection camera the before and after.
