good mod, its kind of a PITA since there is no slack in the wires, the wires going to the connector are like 18 or 20 awg and its really cramped under the dash. but whatever, it worked out well for me anyway..

its funny when other people driving fits see my car, they just look confused because only my foglights are on

just did this last night and it didn't go well for me....i followed the steps and it worked but after awhile my check engine light came on airbag light came on and lost power steering. i just heard some click noise(by fuse box) and all the lights on my dash panel blinked. It was a scary night, but when i got home i custom made another add-a-circuit(got rid of the one i bought) and plugged it into slot 2 instead of slot 3. Plugged the 10amp fuse back into slot 3 and new add-a-circuit with single 10amp fuse powered and so far its working fine this morning hope it stays like this. but overall nice diy and very much appreciate sickfit's for doing the write up for a basically diy independant fog lights for dummies like me.

Why's everyone using the add-a-circuits? There's tons of empty spots in the fuse panel just get a male banana clip and plug it in. The fogs have their own relays and fuses already.

Finally got around to doing this. Screwed up the last step though, putting the steering wheel dash cover back on, I broke off a few of those clips so now I'm riding without the cover and I need to go to Honda and order a new one. I think I screwed up not just the cover though, but also where it's supposed to clip into. Anyone have any ideas on that? I don't wanna ride with exposed wiring forever, it's not eye-pleasing!

YAY!!!!

Cool Truely Independent Fogs W/ High Beams - DIY Addon

First off - Big ups to SickFit! His instructions are spot on.

Sooo... You're like me and think that fogs should be used without the headlights AND with the highbeams if you want?
I'm originally from New England and independent fogs saved me on a many a snowy night. Having the extra light with the high beams is also critical for those lonely roads that critters like to roam on.

I went the extra step and figured out how the fog light relay works and why they go out when the highbeams come on. Pretty simple to fix.

1) Preform SickFit's switch modification.

2) Locate the fog light relay...

3) Carefully unclip it and cut the red/white wire. Ground the relay side with a ring terminal to one of the many small bolts under the dash. Tape up the remaining red/white wire. You're done!

Check out the video - all the indicators work with no ill effects.
Enjoy!

- Kris

anyone ever got a CEL from doing this? other than that everything else is fine.

in order for me to plug into slot #3 i had to remove this black denso box thats right next to slot 3.

do you guys think that maybe the source of the CEL or do I not need that?

woot

ok awsome i got this done it was cake took me about 5 min and deffently not 5$ it cost me about 20$ the create a circut was 5.99 the 10amp fuses were 6.99 for a pack of like 6 there was nothing less. the wire only came in 20 ft. and that was like 5.99 and the wire connectors were like 3.99 or somthing like that but still a cheap mod and i LOVE it already. next im gonna try the mod to let the fogs stay on with the high beams the only thing is in that diagram that webkris posted is different from what i got thay must have changed it in the 08's but i think i found the right thing im just gonna have to build up the balls to try and unclip it i might just take the whole under part fo the sat apart to do it easier.

Would this apply to the 09 (GEs) fits??? I mean in terms of wire to cut, fuse slots to use, etc... Thanks...

So what you are saying is to just plug into the hot side of a fuse insert? Can you post an example of the type of banana clip you are talking about?

Also if I just use the add a circuit into an un-used slot i only need one fuse in the add a circuit correct?

The clip is shaped like a "U" and can plug right into a fuse slot. For some reason I got the names mixed up, a banana clip is kinda round and long. I don't remember the name of the one I used but it's pretty common and you can find them at any auto store. The add-a-circuit is to add a new power line from the fuse box if there's no empty spots available. However there's a bunch of empty slots that work so just plug it right in.
