DIY: Independent Fog w/ Original Switch.
Ok fail, didnt work, i got the fog lights to work independently followed all the steps, but when i went to go turn on the car, none of the instrument panel worked (rpm didn't go up, mileage didn't turn on, gas gauge didn't go up)
after all that the engine light went on. idk why
so question, for the fuse relay thing, do you need an extra fuse? because i only used the one that was on #3
any help and tips would be appreciated
Thanks

yesh you were suppose to get an extra fuse lol thats what the add-a-circuit is for. that add-a-circuit is suppose to go into a pre-exisintg fuse slot, then 2 more fuses would go into that add-a-circuit. kinda hard to picture it, you'd have to see it for youself.
nothing againt u but thats actually pretty funni lmfao

hi i did what you said first i locate that red/yellow wire and i cut it and connect the wire from the harness to the add a circuit wire and connect it to slot #3 just as simple right and it work perfect but how come my gas and rpm and mph gauge doesn't work? did i do something wrong here?? i need help! asap....
If I understand this mod correctly, you removed the + feed for the fog lamps from the low beam circuit, gave it another feed from the fuse box ( preferable switched ) and the - side is opened when the high beams are on? If so, slick and great work. I've been wanting to have the option of having the fogs on independant of everthing else except the ignition switch. One ?. Do the fogs have their own relay?
I just did the mod as described by SickFit with a few other details added. I had some male and female bullet connectors and heat shrink tubing waiting for a project. The male was installed next to the harness connector and the female installed on the new wire from the fuse box. The make required no heat shrink and the female end has enough extending out to cover the crimp area of the male. A short piece of 3M #33 was added over the end just in case. With three screws out the lower half of the steering column cover comes off and the added wire can be neatly wire tied to the harness. Empty fuse position # 2 was used
I did notice one oddity while testing. If the headlights and fogs are on and the panel lights dimmed, turning off the headlight keeps the panel lights dim as long as the fogs are still on. If the fogs are turned on without the headlights the panel lights stay full bright. I can't see a problem with this but don't understand why this happens. There must be a relay somewhere that stays up as long as current passes through its contacts.
The fogs do go out when the key is off.
The fogs do go out when high beams are used.
The fog indicator on the panel works fine.
Thanks to all the guys and gals that risked a flaming Fit for coming up with this mod.

I will see if I can find an easier way.
Hey guyss, i found this Add-a-circuit at Autozone Cooper Bussmann/ATM fuse tap converts one into two fusible circuits - 10 Amps maximum on added circuit (BP-HHH-RP) | Fuse and Accessories | AutoZone.com
would this work??? that way i won't have to cramp 3 in the same slot @_@

I don't have the GD3 anymore so I can't refer to the car anymore if you have any questions. I now have the GE8.
