I've posted to Spacecoast's thread, which is in the GE Forum, but since I made the same repairs to my GD Fit I wanted to post that info here, too, as well as on my own Honda Fit web page, linked below. My web page includes my photos, as earlier photos are no longer visible in either of the GD or GE forum threads on this subject.

The reason why the plastic lining is leaking is due to it being removed twice before to have a few dents fixed up on the door (not accident damage). If the glue around the bottom of the door starts getting minimal in that area (i.e. due to the lining being removed a few times) you will experience the same problem as I did.

) The Jazz has a slight design fault. If the door seal thing (the white plastic) is never removed, it won’t be an issue. But if it is removed even once for a dent to be fixed, then the flaw will come out.
Not exactly correct...its not the fault of the plastic liner, the Fit doors have a design problem, and the plastic liner will never managed to keep water from coming it. Even if your car is new and the liner remains undisturbed, eventually the liner will fail and water will leak into the car. Here is the fix:

Hi,

Joined just to say thanks for this and related threads - was struggling to find the answer for water in my wife's car, and will take a better look at this tomorrow. I live in Scotland.

Especial thanks to Rod, the OP and Spacecoast for the information, effort and clear pictures etc.

Cheers!

I've been working on this car all weekend, in between rain - it never seems to stop here!

Reading through a large number of discussions the world over, there seems to be a huge number of potential areas of water ingress to this car, its infuriating!

So far, the list of sources are -

Roof rail sealant deterioration
Pneumatic hinge joint for boot/trunk
All gromits in same area for various wire looms
Door membrane seal and hole design defect
Rear boot/trunk sealant deterioration

I'm sure there's more I haven't listed.

I think I've found another - the rear parking sensor relay - where the wiring enters the rear of the boot/trunk - mine was fitted without any kind of gromit, just wires pushed through a hole in the metal - this was factory fitted as well!

Will take some pictures and post later.

This is an image of the rear boot/trunk - the part that meets the tailgate. I've removed the plastic trim. Hopefully you can see the area under the black box that is wet - that is the relay/module for the parking sensors. I've put silicone in the hole now.Name: 20140302_150426_WeaverAve.jpg

These images are of the passenger side foot well (right hand drive) where I've pulled the carpet up and placed the seats upright. There are holes obvious, where I believe water comes from the boot/trunk and saturates the carpet.Name: 20140302_150509_WeaverAve.jpg
