Moving Your Turn Signals to the outside Lens

Moving Your Turn Signals to the outside Lens
In browsing the forums yesterday,I noticed a post thinking about swapping the backup light and turn signal positions. WOW, I thought, what a great idea, and should be simple, right? Well, I did it today on my 2008 Fit Sport MT, and it was no piece of cake. I have LED tails which still use these two lenses and the associated bulbs and sockets into which I placed LED bulbs. Here's how to do it (for a 2008 anyway.)
1. remove the pop out covers for access to the wiring and sockets.
2. The turn signal socket and bulb is the one closest to the hatch. Carefully remove the whole socket with bulb from the lens.
3, Note the socket has four SMALL locking tabs.
4. Carefully remove the whole Backup socket and bulb from the lens.
5. Note that this socket has one SMALL and and two LARGE locking tabs,
6, Install the turn signal socket and bulb in the lens closest to the side of the car, you may have to stretch the wire harness. It should install and lock with no problems.
7. Disconnect the backup socket from the harness.
8. Using dikes, a Dremel, nippers, or what have you; trim down the two large tabs to the same size as the small tab. Try the lens fit until it turns and locks; you will know it when it happens.
9. Re-connect the backup wire harness , then check both sides for T/S's and B/U lights.
10. Reinstall the wiring covers, and enjoy!
(three hours later!) Now wasn't that simple?
