Please Advise: GD3 Strut/Shock R/R

The factory manual advises to use a spring compressor in the process of removing and replacing the front strut, whereas AllDataDIY.com describes a pretty simple and straightforward process of unbolting, removing and re-installing. I cannot find a strut removal thread; can anyone tell me which process to use or describe it in more detail?

Also, AllData recommends checking alignment after installation and the factory manual doesn't even mention it. Is it necessary? I'm just wanting to replace my OEM units with KYB's, no change in ride height

This thread should help you out. Also, you do NOT need a spring compressor for this. One more thing, please don't post the same exact thread in multiple sections

Thumbs up Thanks!

The thread seems to be the exact answer I needed, I am really grateful for your sharing it. I assume that since I would be replacing the shock but using the same spring, I would not need to have alignment adjusted afterwards.

I posed the question in the suspension thread and received no response. Sorry if I did something wrong; what is the issue with posting the same thread in several forums?
