Throttle closing delay is NOT unique to DBW. Cable throttle bodies use airport solenoids for example and do the same thing though they are easier to bypass.
I think chikubi's post is spot on, you can relearn and adjust your driving style mostly eliminating it and it becomes second nature in a relatively short time.
