interesting set-up...its not easy on the eyes but i've never been a BIG fan of presentation as i am a HUGE fan of performance first and foremost. anyway, being a Mugen drop-in filter owner myself...got a question, that stupid foam piece on the filter...can i just take the damn thing off without hurting the car???...would it actually improve flow even more without it??? i ask this because the foam piece dosen't like to stay put. every time i check the filter the foam piece is usually disconnected and in a awkward position in the filter box...so i don't feel its really serving a purpose that matters, any thoughts???

Hi Mike,

I was wondering would this intake mod would work better with a 2.5 inch elbow instead of the 3incher? Currently I'm running something similar to your setup (just with an oem filter, breather fliter and most of the resonators removed) and I found that I made little or no power (gunning the pedal) at low end and somewhere at mid to high range the "power" kicks in according to my butt dyno.

Another note that I would like to add is that I got a nice side effect with my hack job, where if I were driving normally it's stock, but if I'm pushing it, it's shows it's full benefits. Maybe my hack job made vtec more noticeable?

P.S I wonder if I can get shots of the bottom and the inside of your airbox without the filter. Thanks

Back from the dead. Mike, any idea about fuel economy gains/losses with your intake? I keep hearing people with short rams and CAIs say they see 1-2MPG better, I would expect yours to be in that range if you keep track. Any information would be appreciated, thanks!

Sense i did it so early I can really tell. Im sure it helps efficiency though. I avg 34-35 city high 30's to 40 mpg on the highway.

I bought Dagul's "SHG intake" and installed it yesterday. I'm running a stock air filter in my for the moment.

+1 on the throttle response, it's definitely quicker. Dunno yet about power gains but I suspect it would be minimal. Hardly any difference in noise level; I hear a wee bit more intake noise, my wife didn't notice anything.
