I may be going turbo!

"The jazz turbo in this month's issue of speed and sound ( 106 ) ENTIRE TURBO CONVERSION IS FOR SALE and already out of the car .

I am fitting a fn2 motor in the jazz and dont have any use for the turbo goodies anymore .

The bolt on kit consists of a garret td04 l turbo , exhaust manifold , oil feeds , very big intercooler . Stainless boost pipes ( all mandrell ) , silicone hoses , dumpvalve etc,etc........

Bargian of the year !!!! Kit to fit yourself @ r 10 000.00 , or if we do the install , exhaust downpipe , fuelling , dyno and the rest @ r 25 000.00 .

Cheers , nolan "

This was posted on a local Honda forum and I was ecstatic!R10 000 is roughly $1500 US!

I'd appreciate it if the turbo guys on fitfreak can weigh in and give some sound advice about fitting a turbo kit. What do I look out for in terms of reliability and parts? etc etc

This is from a fairly reputable local tuning company (I've only ever heard good things about them). I still have to find out all the specifics of the kit and whats included but it looks good.

Like I said any tips and advice will be appreciated

sounds odd.

if R10,000 = $1500. the kit alone costs that much.
but if you want to buy it and have theminstall it it will be 2.5x as much...R25,000 = $3750?
$1500-3750 = $2250

if they are charging $2200 to install, they are either overcharging, or its not a complete kit which requires fabrication.
make sure you know what your getting. real garrett turbo. name brand wastegate, BOV,
quality welds, etc.
as long as its a good install and quality parts, there isnt much to break. keep the psi low and if you can, water cool the turbo (it will last longer).

At the current exchange rate its $1303.82 for the kit alone and $3259.54 to purchase the kit and have it fitted and tuned. So like you say they may be overcharging but I've asked a few other places for quotes and Im still waiting on all the details of the kit.

What do you guys typically pay for an install State-side?

Boost wouldnt run higher than 8psi/0.5bar

Going to go inspect the kit later this week hopefully. Watch this space.

a turbo kit designed for the car (such as hks, greddy) that requires no fabrication...about $600-1000USD

i agree.

if you have tools and a garage, do the isntall yourself.
its really not difficult to work on this motor. 10mm-15mm wrenches and sockets.
02 sensor socket.
pliers
screwdrivers

you can pretty much do anything. lol.

Yeah so I bought it. Will update next week with nicer pics, etc when I collect.

2 things I have to get though:

-310cc injectors, suggestions please?
-UniQ (piggyback management system)

-Going with 440cc injectors, either Bosch or Precision.
-Looking around for a good piggyback system, probably gonna go with UniQ+, what are the opinions on AEM, etc?
Gonna get forged internals:
-CP pistons
-K1 rods
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Oil Cooler
Light port & polish

Am I missing anything?
