JDM LED Tail light DIY
#25
Thanks for the writeup. I have to replace one of my rears due to damage. I was fiddling with it earlier today and could not figure out how to get the bottom loose. I might do a 3rd party replacement for both if the price is right.

Im glad it came in handy. Yes that screw can be hard to find and get at. I did it with out removing the bumper but others say its easier to get at when you do remove the bumper.

Gotta say thanks for the write up as well.
I did try to do it without taking off the bumper, but found that I couldn't get the lower part of the light to fit properly so I just took out the allen key bolt from the hatch area and the screw in each wheel well out and just pulled the bumper back made it super easy yo get to the screw at the bottom of the tail light and was able to get the lower part of the taillight into the lower mount and didn't take the bumper right off.

They sure do fit with the USDM bumper. I think its only for the headlights that you have to switch out the bumper

Just did this mod today, only issue i had was the plug that goes into the LED spot on the jdm lights was different.. it had a 4 spot plug (even though only 3 were used) and the led connector was suited to 3 only. We ended up pulling plug apart and making a new setup.

Excellent write up. Thinking about ordering Depo JDM LED tails after my OEM replacement fogs come in the mail. I know LED bulbs last forever. But if one bulb blows, how easy is it to replace the bulb like replaceing the stock bulbs? I imagine this to be difficult and is one major reason why I'm holding off on buying the tails.
