adding 12 volt accessory plug-- need some help.
Hi Guys,
I just hopped on the group buy for the JDM center console with armrest. Now the fun part, I have a base MT. I know that this console will fit, but I need to either add an aux jack and 12 volt accessory plug or come up with a slick way to cover the two holes that I will have (as you know the base has neither the aux or accessory connections.
Anyone got part numbers for the two pieces and or DIY on the two? I have actually seen a DIY on the AUX audio jack-- what about the power?
ps. I'm a computer guy-- not really a car stero/electrical guy- so make it easy for me if you can.
Thanks
Tbird

as far as power, you can get it from the front fuse box under the driver's
seat. use a add-a-circuit (up to 10A) and pull a wire to the new glove
box. as far as ground, get a volt meter and see if any of those bolts
you use to mount is connected to ground. if not, just wire it up to a
nut/bolt that is.
very easy.

Don't laugh, but add-a circuit-- Thats something I can buy right? I'm going to have an alarm installed when I get the car-- maybe I'll just have them "pre-run" the power for me and when my console comes in, I'll just plug it in.
Tbird-

If you decide to hide the holes rather than fill them, there is black kitchen drawer liner material available that would do a pretty nice job + even keep things in the pocket from making so much noise. Check out your local home center.
Am I the only one reading this thinking "Base Fits DO come with 12v Power outlets in the same spot as the sport and they also come with a place-holder piece that covers the *same* hole as the aux jack hole in the JDM console"?
Just take the pieces out of the existing console and move them.
