i did the same thing

what i did was just put the lil rod inside the square thing then stuck it in the vent, superglued the other side of the lil square on the vent, and slid it back in. glue is drying now, hopefully it will hold up well enough.

I ordered the whole unit (vent duct) that comes with the new vent for like $15.00. I haven't figure out how to replace the entire unit yet. I hope I don't have to take the dash cover out

Haha, wow, this sure is a little more involved than it was on my STI. I gotta do it, though.

yeah man it looks so much more badass than the stock one. also the stock one is a little bit off-color grey too plus it's jdm yo!

it's not all that hard i did mine at like 1 am at a gas station with no light but the dome. and still got it done fairly easily, with a few problems. you should be fine, just be careful cause those little pegs on the vents are easy to break.

alright guys i got this service manual in the mail and lemme just say it tells you EVERYTHING i wish i had this a while ago

yes you do have to remove the dash to replace that a/c section where the pegs were broken

i'll probably just leave it as is since there's really nothing functionally wrong about it.

I have an orange switch and dont like it!

I realise that this may seem like a strange thought but my Fit already has an orange hazard switch and I dont like it! I would much rather have a black or grey one!

Does anyone know how I can get hold of a replacement black or grey?

All mention of the replacement button on the forums and online are to swap the other way!

LOL... man, a year later, and I *still* haven't done mine. I've had this and the vent stickers sitting in a box for all this time. I can do suspension, full exhaust, other engine/suspension work, etc., but things like this I'm lazy about!

Thanks to this thread, I was able to install my JDM hazard switch in about 10 minutes. The A/C vent removal is definitely the quickest method, and I didn't break anything except for my old hazard switch.

I'm so excited! I can't wait to run out of gas or have a flat tire just so I can use my JDM-tYt3 hazard switch!

EDIT: I have the part number also, by the way.

You guys are making this way harder than it needs to be.

Look on the bottom side of the dash above the pedals, there is a plastic panel clipped into place. Pop that panel out and shine a flashlight in the general direction of the hazzard switch. You'll see the backside of the plug for it. Reach your arm up there and push on it. It'll take a little bit of a push but it will pop right out, then you can replace the panel under the dash and sit in the drivers seat and do the rest from there.

I just tried this method. I had to lay all the way back and got my arm up there to push, but as i started pushing i heard a really weird buzzing sound coming from the fuses. (i think) I tried to push harder but just couldn't get it to pop out. I also tried the AC vent method and couldn't get that to budge either. Maybe i should just break the face off the button.

Wow, I followed this DIY and I was done in under 3 minutes. I'm not kidding, it was that easy. The noise the other member heard was probably the eject button from the CD player.

Thank you gd3vbp!

but i seriously just did it in less than 2 mins. drop the lil kick panel near the pedals. locate the switch. and push it to one side. it popped right out. no screws.. no missing clips.. super easy. didnt even have to break anything

i did it in pitch dark. with a lil maglite . anyone can swap this switch

5 minute install while sitting in driver's seat

Took 5 minutes just now to do this. I took a different approach. Since I didn't care if I broke the old switch

Tools:
small thin flathead
flat nose pliers

With the thin flathead I pried off the old hazard switch cover. I took it easy as I didn't want to scruff up the interior plastic.

Once the hazard switch cover is off, take the flat head and press the top tab of the switch and then the bottom. This is to lossen it a bit.

Then take the flat nose pliers and pull straight out.

Took all of 5 minutes. Just go slow and finesse it.

HI,
can you take a picture of 'lil kick panel near the pedals', because I can't find it.

Thanks in advanced
